2013 Tundra air intake

    1. Just bought 2013 Tundra and found out the air filter was a K&N. When cleaning the filter I noticed what appeared to be another filter jammed in the intake canister lid. I did not want to pry it out because I thought it might be an integral part of the lid and used as a final protection for debris entering the engine. Is this a filter stored by the previous owner for use while cleaning the K&N, accidentally left when K&N was installed, or part of the intake canister lid.

    It's the carbon filter. A lot of guys remove it thinking here is power left on the table if you leave it in place.

    There isn't any loss of power if ya leave it there. And I prefer it to be left there because it will catch any rogue k&n fikter oil and keep it from getting on the mass air meter.

    Thanks for the info. I will put the clean K&N back in and leave the carbon filter as is.
