Here she is with the new advan wheels and 315/70r17 KM3s on it. Gotta swap the running boards for my sliders next and then install my metal tech front bumper. Get an alignment and now break in my new 4.88s nitro gears. Also got front and rear arb lockers installed at the same time. I used switch pro for my switch needs. Single arb compressor. 626D023E-01D0-45A7-AA27-82AA5213712D.jpg2B7D0125-3A35-4412-B4CE-8D35CA9A137E.jpgB0ADF6E8-7A7D-46D5-8736-A30184D97F09.jpg

This is the bumper I’m using

Here she is with the bumper on as an initial fit. Need to make fine adjustments then add the light bar and pods and then she’s trail ready. I was custom fabricating the original running boards and had a little accident with a angle grinder and ended up with 6 stitches. lol. 100 percent my fault for being a dumb ass. First time working on my rigs with board shorts and no gloves and...... 9B653AB3-4ED5-4EAC-B486-C1A4C51764D9.jpgA8A307EB-11D6-45D9-B476-EDD66592111F.jpgF086C94F-C470-4141-BA07-68567DAC9263.jpgE3D13DEE-8107-40BD-B954-9DB1596FB1F4.jpg

Basically hit my thumb with the sanding paddle wheel and I dropped it and it hit my UGG slippers then bounced into my shin muscle. Missed anything important thankfully. Lesson learned. Wear pants and gloves. Lol here is my attacker. I will say that UGG makes a great slipper the grinder barely hurt them. Just 3 grind marks on the top of one of them.207A6E0D-F67D-4471-8120-E8B7D9BFDF5F.jpg

Use the blade guard and wear PPE including safety goggles and a leather apron when using grinders. Can't tell you how many folks i've treated that have cut fingers apart, had the blade slip and go straight into the abdomen, or have the blade shatter/splinter and suffer facial trauma. Those things are amazingly useful but super dangerous. Bumper looks great though. Stay safe man!

    I'm digging it!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

How do you like the 4.88s? What kind of RPMs are you running at highway speeds? Not worried about it just curious. I'm going to go with the Yukons and Harrop/Eaton for the rear of mine.

I definitely like your front bumper better than mine.

Dude that is a gnarly hole you added to yourself. Hope it heels up quick.

Here's some more money to spend. I just found this on YT. Pretty cool. I haven't looked for the site yet. I will post a price when I get a chance.

Drooling over the build!! Do the gx still have AHC? I am about to get going on my old lx470 but the AHC height system still works like a charm and don’t want to rip it out while it is alive and well. Looks great!

I’m still breaking the gears in and haven’t even taken it out of the driveway with the new tires on. When I do drive it, it’s going straight to get an alignment. So I can’t report back yet. Plus I won’t know till after I break them in. Then I can get on it. I tried to get e lockers but was told they don’t make them only arb. But I’m sure that’s not true. I didn’t do my research and said ok to the purchase.

that shelf looks cool but I plan on doing a drawer system and make a custom bed on top of it instead of roof top tent. For now. Good thing about being vertically challenged is that we fit anywhere.

Thanks. What’s AHC? I ripped out airbags and put coils in the rear and suspension was changed out so no ride height adjustment besides more preload on the front Coilovers. If AHC is suspension related.

Thanks. Me too. Could have been way worse. New found respect for a grinder that’s for sure.

Just getting started with my 2013. It's a base with some added options and I haven't decided it's final form yet. I did order the MTS and crawl control components.

I haven't really given much thought as to what I am going to do on the inside yet.

Like I mentioned above, I'm digging what you have done so far.

Yeah, at 5' 7" I can damn near jump up and down in the back of mine.

If you can remember let me know what kind of rpms you're turning.

There seems to be 4 companies that make lockers for the 460/Prado, T4R, FJC
TJM, air locker with a piston design
ARB, air locker, both front and rear
    Yukon Zip locker, air locker
Harrop/ Eaton electric locker. Both front and rear.

Yeah, I’ll liking your build a lot but it’s going to take awhile for me to get there as I have a bad bicycle habit.

That answers my question! The way older 100 series lx have an automatic height control system that you can adjust the lift by turning a knob to high normal or low. Really cool when it works but expensive to repair once it goes

AHC is only on LX’s. The GX’s air suspension is...pretty useless. My moms GX has it and I can’t imagine any situation where it would be useful.

Well I know when I was driving home from the shop going 55-60 mph on the highway I was at 2500 rpm that was on stock 30s. When I take it to get aligned I’ll post up those numbers.

Thank you. Any hobby can get real expensive real quick. Priorities. Lol. I used to be into saltwater tanks and that made it so I had no money for other cool stuff. I definitely wouldn’t have this GX or have the stuff on my tundra if I still had one, so I definitely understand. Bikes aren’t cheap. Well good ones aren’t.

Ok. Cool. I’m glad that answered you question. I’ve personally never been a fan of airbags. Always heard nothing but issues and like you said pricey to fix.

What kind of mileage are you seeing out of the GX460? My wife wants a 5th gen 4Runner but I would honestly prefer the V8. I wouldn't mod hers much other than putting on some better tires. Could we get 18mpg or is that just not likely?

Also, does the 4.6L suffer from the AIP failure and cam tower leak often?

My in laws hover between 16-19 on their 460. Dependent on driving type of course

Which honestly is about what people get out of their 4runners. I'd be inclined to just opt for the V8.

I'm getting 17.5 but live out in the sticks and State Farm is watching. The air pump, air valve issue is covered by recall and extended warranty. They just did mine Wednesday in about 1.5hrs. The valves are not under the intake like the 4.7 or 5.7. There were some intake and timing cover leak issues on some of the early models as they used the wrong sealant. Water pump and belt tensioner changes are fairly common at ~100k miles.

Check them out Thoroughly. Make sure the carfax is legit. Check frame rust incase it came from the north.
