2012 shut off while driving will not restart. Replaced battery, still wont

    Does it crank? Or what is it doing? If it’s cranking and not turning on my guess is fuel pump

    Did anyone try to jump start the truck after it stopped on you? If the cables were attached backwards, that will blow the main fuse or fusible link in the underhood fuse box. Check all the fuses while you're looking, there may be other blown fuses in the fuse box.

    Here's facts, 2012 Toyota Rock warrior, 42,956 miles, never beat up off road. Nothing has been modified from original equipment. Just driving down the road on real nice day at about 45 mph and the engine just shut off. Glad we were not on an interstate, it could have caused an accident. Tried to read fault codes but none show up on a code reader, (I will try a different reader). I replaced the battery, cleaned all terminals, checked voltage at many places (full voltage everywhere I look). We can hear the fuel pump run as soon as the key is turned, the engine turns over (sometimes it will almost start but just shut back off). Any suggestions to check?

    With a new, fresh battery, cranking speed should be high. If it's not cranking vigorously, I would check the battery cables' condition, and clean the ground cable termination on the chassis. Battery cables can corrode under the insulation. Look for any lack of flexibility in the cables, or non-uniformity of cable insulation (lumpiness).

    Just a wild shot in the dark but could something have happened where the ECU can’t read your key now after the battery swap? Idk. Just spitting in the wind but I’m wondering if it’s the transponder acting up.
