Just FYI, before you take it off, there is no way to easily separate the "outer ring" from the inner "SEQUOIA" part.Taking the whole thing off does make it a little easier to wrap, but not too much. Anyways, to get it off, take the inner panel off. This is held on with 1 10mm (I think) bolt under the cover below the strap. Next (before you undo the bottom panel, take the top panel strip off since the bar for the lift gate goes through this and will hinder the removal of the bottom panel. Once both of those are off, the panel can now be removed by carefully prying the edges to undo the panel clips. Next, grab a can of spray air and flip it upside down to shoot the black tar glue around the plastic waterproofing to make it not be as sticky when you pull it back. Once you get everything out of the way, I believe there was 4 or 5 nuts to remove that will separate the sequoia emblem and frame. I undid the lock as well since this passes through the panel. I also think that I remember unscrewing the tail light lenses since the wiring under the logo piece was tight.

Once the pieces are off, I wrapped the surround with matte black vinyl and the inside with the pearl vinyl. Not an easy job, but doable. As far as the inside goes, push all of your bubbles and imperfections to the middle of where the "sequoia" inlay is since you will be putting the black letters over top of them anyways (pop the bubbles with a pin of course). Hope this makes sense. Post pics when you are done!

Thanks for sharing. It is very tempting but I'm not sure how they calculated 20% off for the Pro version! lol.

Man... this thing has the wheels spinning. See if I can't get in a sequoia on the low and do some doctoring to it.

Well the pro is originally $300. That's what i remembered awhile back.
In the past, from their drop down menu, the pro version was an additional $120. I dont remember what the base price was. Im sure it hasn't gone up.
I was waiting for the vehicle specific bracket, that's why i didnt buy the universal set before.

Yea, on the lightwerkz site, pro is originally 296 so 20% off that is not $256. However, on DD site, the pro is $320 so 20% off that is $256. It's just weird math. Now it looks like they have the bracket for the Sequoia and I am really tempted to buy. However, I won't be driving much anymore and we don't get a lot of fog so I dont know if it's a wise use of money.

They lower it from $120 to $96 from their drop down menu. I think that's where it all added up to $256.

Looks much better without the pinstripe! I just picked up a 2008 Sequoia and the one thing I hate about it is the pinstripe. I got a great deal on it, so the pinstripe was not a deal breaker. Can you tell me more about removing the pinstripe with the whizzy wheel? Is there much color difference in the paint after you removed it? My sequoia is Green, so I'm wondering if paint color difference will be noticeable when I remove the pinstripe? Thanks

Welcome! Honestly, if I were going to do it all over again, I would take my time with some goof off and a plastic scraper. I messed up the clear coat in a couple spots from the whizzy wheel. Maybe reach out to @TheBeast who recommended it. He may have some pointers on not damaging the paint. All in all though, I think it looks much better, even with the little bit of damage I caused.

Enjoy the sequoia! With a few strategic mods, it'll look like a 2020 truck! And do yourself a favor and ditch the factory stereo for a CarPlay/Android auto one. It makes a world of difference.

Thanks! Yeah, already ordered new CarPlay/Android radio. Also have the 2018+ LED lights ordered with TRD Pro grille. :) Major updates are on the way!

Sweet! Post pics when you are done. I've seen some green Tundra that look awesome with those upgrades! It seems to be a pretty rare color, especially in the sequoias.

Thanks! Will do. Yeah, I haven't seen many of the green around. Between the unique color and deal I couldn't pass it up.

This one is a perfect match for the gloss charcoal interior in my truck. It fits great as well.

As far as the actual head unit, I chose the Pioneer 4400NEX. It has been great, and the sound is much better than stock. As a bonus, I sold my factory JBL nav unit on Ebay for about $550 which paid for the upgrade:).

    Hope this helps!

Looks great! And good job on all the work. I put on the same wheels on my Sequoia, it definitely changes the look of the truck. I also put on a little bigger tire to give it more aggressive look. Might do the grill and headlights next.

Thanks! Do you have any pics of yours? I thought about putting larger tires on it, but not sure that they'd fit with the stock suspension.

Following in your footsteps... I got the Pro Grill, door handles and mirror caps swapped out yesterday. Installed a set of Pro 18" wheels some guy pulled off his 2020 Tundra. Next step will be the rear badging and what the hell to do with the chrome strip on the side.

Looks awesome. If it were me, I'd wrap it on vinyl. It looks like an easy piece to wrap. If you can find a vinyl that is close enough for color match, maybe go that route....or maybe satin black to go with the wheels and mirrors?

Got the TRD Pro grille installed on our 2008 Sequoia. Super easy and love the look. Next is updating the headlights! Waiting on wiring harness from Xrunner to install the LED lights

Thanks! Such an easy mod and big difference in appearance. I'm leaning toward leaving it black. Haven't 100% decided yet. Was going to wait until I get the lights installed to see what I think.

Sweet Build! Came across your build page while researching some mods for our 2012 Sequoia Platinum. I thought I did enough research on the Alphrex Pro and ordered a set. Then I realized the Platinum trim has headlight washers embedded in the lower trim piece. I have the details on how to remove them from the trim and headlight assembly but then came across a post advising against aftermarket headlight assemblies due to not being able to secure the washer assembly to the aftermarket headlights (no screw holes). I noticed you are running Apharex Pros and still have the washer cover. Were you able to secure the washer to the Alpharex?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I know this post is a while back but does anyone know if this grille still exists? The links work but it says item is no longer around. :(
