Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if it ever presents a problem. I don't expect to us S mode much, as I tow infrequently.

Can you elaborate on this, I've never read that this can be programmed/changed, even with a custom tune to the transmission.

I took a 12 mile test drive. As far as I can tell everything acts normally. The transmission shifts up/down using S mode and acts normal in D. I want to thank all who brainstormed this problem for their interest and suggestions. The repair wasn't what we expected, but I'm thankful. I'm sure I'll be back for more help as time passes, and reading the topics as well.

I says in the owners manual for a 2013 it can be reprogramed. I have not had any reason to reprogram it but, the owners manual says it can be changed. I like the 4th gear that is programed in mine.

Huh, I thought that I'd been through the manual with enough attention, but I guess I missed it. I'll try to find it in mine later today and let everyone know what I find. Thanks!

    *Later*
Well, I dug into my 2011 owner's manual and an online 2013 owner's manual and I can't seem to find any references to reprogramming the gear selection for moving to S-Mode. Apparently it's dictated by the AI-Shift protocol. I reached out to the company that does the tuning software that I use and was told that they haven't found the code that would enable changing what gear is automatically selected when selecting S-Mode. They're not saying it's "not there", they just haven't found it yet. If you have some insight as to how to reprogram this, there are many people that would be quite happy.

    Sorry Guys/Gals,
    Wynnded,
I am glad you questioned this. I went back to my manual and reread everything about the Shift mode.
I had read the info incorrectly, or remembered it incorrectly. It was a long time ago but, what I thought could be changed from 4 to 5 or 5 to 4 was not right. That had to do with what type of tranny is in the vehicle and what speed you are going when selecting the S mode. If you have a 6 speed tranny it will automatically shift to either 5 or 4 depending on speed of vehicle, or depending on vehicle speed automatically 4 or 3 on a 5 speed tranny .
Again sorry for the miss information. Next time I use the manual for a reference I will quote a page for the info. Again my apologies.:boom:

Hey, no worries, we've all been there.

On the "which gear it shifts to from D to S-Mode" subject. My reading has found that it is dependent on the AI aspect. I don't know if that clears things up or not, but I've played around with it this past week or so with some slow and hilly driving. Basically, I drove normally and occasionally flipped from D over to S-Mode to see what the display would show me. Sometimes it was 3, but most of the time it was 4, with the 6-speed. I really wasn't able to pin it on accelerating, decelerating, up hill, or down hill. :notsure:

I rarely use S mode now that I have a HikeIt X9. Happy camper here...

I read up on HikeIt's website, what does it change in how the transmission shifts?
