That guard looked really not great IMO. Especially for a street truck lowered RCSB. Much better up front now.

Installation of the Air-Lift kit from SOS Performance was completed this morning. Initial results are excellent, but I need to put more miles on it and play with the air pressure until I find the perfect psi for daily driving. The ride with 22 psi is firm & forgiving.

    IMG_1683.jpg IMG_1684.jpg

I was forced to add this kit because once lowered the rear would squat during a hard launch... it squatted so much that the drive shaft and a cross-member on the bottom of the bed were making contact. It would also bottom out coming off speed bumps & pavement heaves at higher speeds. All of that ended today.

After 1 year of pride in ownership most of my list of things to do to the RCSB have been checked off, but I still have some cosmetic work remaining plus a leaking drive shaft/transmission seal to replace. Other than that, it's good to go.

Adding the Air-lift kit is money well spent, it really makes the rest of the kit work better. Avoid additional labor, and install the bags at the same time you are installing the lowering kit.

Nice setup!! I heard of rcsb’s hitting their driveshaft on a crossmember but never actually seen it. Also heard some people cut a c-notch into the crossmember to make room for the driveshaft but this is a much better solution, nice work!

I took advantage of the free time I had today, and adjusted the air pressure in the bags... wow, what a difference! The ride is much smoother & controlled, and I am even quicker off the line launching hard from a dead stop. You can't see me, but there is a big smile on my face right now.

Actual mods so far: the complete rear only lowering kit, Line-X for the bed, N-FAB rear bumper, Kenwood head unit with Focal door speakers, and Wet Okole seat covers. Everything else falls under repair & maintenance.

I put it off for over a year... the drive shaft and transmission seal were replaced this morning.

With major service & mechanical repairs out of the way, I can focus on MILD performance mods like a quiet performance single exhaust, an Auburn LSD, and maybe a DAP tune. I will also look at cleaning up it's appearance, but it's not going to be a show truck.

The plastic engine cover has been removed.

    A belated thank you.

It's far from clean, but it's inching closer... Georgia red clay acts like a die if it's not cleaned off pretty quick, or almost never as is the case. This was a leave the windows down and drive work truck for most of the 270k racked up before my ownership, the debris I have found are evidence of dusty & muddy conditions... red clay mud & gravel in every orifice of the frame. I would love to find a deal on clean OEM floor carpeting, any color will do.

Is it possible/practical for a shop to remove, clean and reinstall the original carpet without ruining it's form fit?

    You're quite welcome!

I think for the money you would spend on that you might as well buy a new carpet set.
I didn't see any for single cabs, but JC Whitney has a double cab set for $175 and you can always trim the excess off the back and make floor mats. :)

I don't know for sure but I don't think that another carpet would fit properly, the B pillar is further away from the A pillar on regular cab long doors. Has anybody done this?

Pouring rain during my first outing with standing water everywhere, staying on surface streets I was able to confirm that the automatic kick-down shifting from a 30+ mph rolling start is almost instant and it pulls aggressively in short burst... I also noticed that rapid downshifting in Sequential felt extremely smooth, I hope this feeling carries over to dry pavement. Mine has always lurched a bit when downshifting, compression locking of the rear wheels may be a thing of the past.

She won't see much action this winter, so I will be finalizing my plans for warm weather performance tires, what to do about the front bumper, and schedule some additional PDR work on the cab.

The under seat sub woofer will be installed this afternoon.

Are you using a custom box for the sub?

No custom box needed, it's a self contained unit designed to fit under the seat.

    It sounds great!

This is a good thread! Love you approach to the truck!
I always wanted to know if lowering the rear of the truck has any effect on performance. I know many do this. But other then looks what good does it do to even the rear.

The modifications I've made to the rear suspension make mine ride and handle more like
a late 60's early 70's muscle car than a truck, it turns & corners surprisingly well on LT tires.

Toyo Proxes S/T III 285/60/18 performance tires were installed this evening, I'll review in a few days.
