I was at the Dump recently and the guy wanted to charge me the per/pound rate bc he thought I had more than 600lbs of junk in back. When I finished I came back through for a re-weigh and he told me I was at 3.57 tons (with 300lbs of kids in the back seat). If I subtract the kids but add in the RTT and a full cooler + fluids I think Id be back up to 3.57. I guess I'll still have to go back for another weigh with just my rear axle on the scale though.

Go to a CAT scale with all your gear and get weighed for real

    So is this about right?

Hi Jeff... Looking into a 3in pack for my Tundra. Bruce and Alex said to reach out to you. Right now my weight is _______ total, _______ rear axle only. I'm looking for an equivalent to the k37 pack (as opposed to the u748s) specific to my weight and obviously in 3in vs 2.5. I never tow anything and the weight in the back could be +/- 300lbs depending on the trip and if I'm running solo vs whole family.

Is there anything else I'd need to address?

CAT scale? The truck weigh stations on the freeway? Probably about the same as the one at the dump? I never know when those dame CALTRAN weigh stations will be open and closest one is San Onofre. Dump is closer AND has regular hours.

    Yes that's about right

No. Those are CA weigh stations. And dump scales aren't always accurate. Go to a CAT scale, it's like $15 and they're certified

sorry for all the questions. This seems like a very "permanent" modification to the truck, so I want to get it 100% right. I won't say I got "burned" on the deaver packs since this would have happened to ANY leaf pack, but I did spend about $800 just one year ago on new leaf springs and won't be able to recover any of that.

Tell Jeff how you feel about your current packs and he might work with you on price on the new packs.

Jeff goes out of his way to make sure you get a product you're happy with

LOL... 110lbs, 95lbs and 85 lbs. Add in the weight of the iPads and ear buds that are permanently attached to them and you get 300.

My closest CAT scale is in Peris, but I did find this option nearby:
    https://www.ncbev.com/certified-public-truck-scale

Not CAT branded, but it is certified AND its only a few blocks from my wife's work.

a few weeks to have the final details for the SOA / MT guys, for LT guys available to order now. will take a week or two to produce and ship.

Leaf springs take 4-6 weeks from deaver.

Well, like I said... once MT is finalized, sign me up. Being relatively close to you, I'd probably enlist your help in getting everything welded up (if you are willing)

I'm trying to plan out my winter "trips" and would like to have the rig in tip-top shape before I go on any runs with the SGU crew. Although I could certainly still go run w/ my buddy from Valley Center since he's rocking a Subie.

Wish I would have read this 3 months ago before I spent 1500$ on spring under kit. Guess I will have to wait for these to flat out a bit then replace them.:confused::spending:

Ok minor update folks... for the LT people... its 1150$ local pickup and 8 weeks build time on leafs from Deaver.

    ***VERY IMPORTANT***

you must weigh your truck prior to talking to him. He was a bit cautious about building these in general. But because my weight is only 300lbs less than @osidepunker he can slightly modify the pack he built for Alex to work for me. I came in at 7700 total weight fully loaded, w 3660 rear axle weight and 4040 front axle weight with me in the truck.

So make sure when you weigh your truck you fully load it with gear, gas, water, food, spare tires, tools etc.. you want to be as accurate as you can. if you are off by a few hundred lbs the leaf rate will be off and your truck will either sag or be too stiff.

any certified weight station. They're all over the place because truckers have to use them

Cat Scales is a good one. Was like $12 for uncertified weight

Called and verified (things are usually more expensive in this area) $12 at a Cat scale and there are 3 within 35 mi.
