I don't recall at the moment, but are the MCM shackles 2 piece or 1-piece?

Well, I'm glad this is an option. I just installed a new set of alcans and wish I had just waited a couple more months.

Cool! Well, I'd lose money, but maybe I'll think about selling my alcans. As much as I tow and haul crap, this would be worth it.

I ran for 6 years without a locker, I've never had to turn around just because I wasn't locked LOL As for winch, I've needed it exactly 3 times in the 4 years I've had it. I've used it on other trucks more than I've used it for mine haha

Bruce answered a lot of this but I'll expand. MT spring over and LT spring under are two totally different setups and the parts dont transfer. Different length shock and different mounting points for those shocks. Different shackles, different spring plates, different axle perches etc etc etc.

I've run both setups. I've also spent a bunch of money on adding a front bypass for MT only to rip it out and install LT. Bottom line is if you think you're gonna end up LT spring under, then dont waste money on MT spring over parts.

That said, if you want to save money, MT spring over can be designed to perform very well. A good set of bypasses and a good set of leafs can go a long way.

    LT is titties though...:eek::D

Those Alcans will sell in a heartbeat

Ok, I'll concede on the locker, but as for the winch... if I go out wheeling/camping with my wife and we get stuck just ONCE, then it's all over. :help:

Plus, my U748's are still running pretty good. I'd like to get the full 1.5 years of expected life out of them.

if you're solo your brain is you largest recovery tool. After that, I've used traction boards a few times. The only times Ive needed a winch were on black diamond rock gardens like john bull

Not trying to talk you out of a winch, I'm just saying that its one of the last tools I look at when I need extraction. Besides, a lot of time you wont even have an anchor to winch to....

I'm just happy I was there for one of the times you actually needed your winch. But there were possible alternative solutions like a little nudge from behind or a massive "jack the truck up and stack a shit ton of rocks" operation.

yeah true. I dont count that as a winch was mandatory situation. Even if I was by myself I could have hilifted a wheel and put a big rock under it or something.

but if I was solo I wouldnt have been in that canyon to begin with haha

Argh.... So Confused as to what I should do here... I'm sure I'll get these at some point. Should I just bite the bullet and get them now? I know I'm asking the wrong crowd here. Plus, Deaver isn't even making the MT leafs yet, correct?

Yes price is for MT or LT. We'll get you a u bolt flip kit instead of the regular SUA spring plate

Ok... Well I went out to my truck to investigate a little. Looks like the MCM shackles are indeed two-piece since there is no center "connector". Also, it looks like my leafs are completely flat w/ my current bed-rack.

Get us some good pictures of the axle perch where the leafs rest on top of the axle so we can see how much clearance is around the leafs

Those shackles will work. Just need to add the bushing faces to space them out a little for the wider bushings

How close are you to SD??

So I'm looking at $1400~ for 3" spring hanger, shock mount relocation and, shackle. Bout 5k after springs and bypasses for the ultimate SOA MT setup... Not a bad price.

yeah and for a few bucks more, full LT! LOL but the "upgraded MT, will allow for great suspension travel and ride as well as ability to tow etc.

    Damn this thread.

Just check, my springs are beyond flat. And of course I have the one piece coach builder shackles.

The thing that's keeping me from going LT is the increased track width. I'm not going to be moving back all the way to CA. I will be close to open desert, but not quite. If this was a Tacoma... I wouldn't bat an eye at LT, but I barely fit on trails now. Had some quad riders give me shit the other weekend, even though it was a multi-use trail.
