it points that way everything else with the truck is in spec... its cleary when everything is loading and unloading in the driveline.. i guess I will have to pull the shaft since I cant get it todo anything with a pry bar

very disappointed in toyota with this with us not being able to service.. this truck has been in the family since 09 (11k miles) I remember it clunking when I drove it a couple years ago but not that bad just real slight but it wasnt mine and my father wasnt worried about it so I left it be..

Does your driveshaft have a carrier bearing? We had a clunking on our 07 Crewmax 5.7 4x4 and it turned out to be the carrier bearing for the driveshaft.

I didnt have the truck jacked up so space was slightly limited today lol.. my 2 post lifts seal is blown out atm so no air time :( I was not looking in the middle for a carrier bearing just the drive shaft U joints I guess I need to look again at it

When was it clunking btw? drive/reverse at from park or stopping and going?

Mostly from accelerating from a stop IIRC. The actual cause of the failure was a result of the PO installing some HD rear leaf springs incorrectly (wrong sides) which pushed the entire rear axle back. This in turn reduced engagement on the splines which caused the driveshaft to wobble which then caused the bearing failure. Incredible how stupid folks are, and the guy/PO was a GMC mechanic.
