2007-2013 Toyota Tundra XB LED Headlights

Do these use LED chips or bulbs? The AlphaRex Nova uses chips and when a LED goes bad, the entire housing has to be replaced

 

the sequoias LEDs are the same. When it goes bad, you have to replace the whole assembly...

 

This is just how the Morimotos are as well. If anything at all fails on you, you will be sent a brand new assembly to replace the bad one. So really if one part fails, you're getting brand new everything on that side! Many people see this as a downside, but it really isn't. It takes all the dastardly troubleshooting out of the question and involves a lot less labor & Installation for you! Just yank the bad one out and slap in the replacement and boom, you are Cookin' with Crisco my Friend, off you go!

If you did say, an LED Projector Retrofit (For Comparison reasons to the XB LED Headlights also w/ LED Projectors) in your OEM Tundra housings and one was defective and fails on you in a month. Now you have to remove the headlight, cook it in the oven and peel the Lens off, remove the Projector, wait for the new one to come in, re-install the new LED Projector, re-wire it, Re-seal the Headlight, and re-install it in the truck. That is a 9-Step process just to get the headlight back on the road again! With the XB LEDs, one call, a couple emails later, and your replacement housing is on your doorstep awaiting installation, ready to roll. See what I'm getting at? Great Question!

 

how long is the warranty ?

 

You are covered with a Whoppin' 5-Year Warranty. OEM LED housings only carry a 1-Year warranty from the factory most the time so Morimoto has them beat there as well!

 

At $1,050 I think I'm game.

I wasn't too sure about them from the other video but now seeing this video with the color match surround and black grill they look a lot better.

Oh wow! Those look a whole lot better compared to the first video that morimoto put out! It would still look better with projectors, but morimoto seemed to do a great job aesthetically for headlights without projectors. Now it is only a couple days away from being officially late November, hopefully they start communicating when these will drop

 

it was definitely the truck they were installed on. I'm not a fan of chrome or large wheels and the grill on that truck really irritated me. They definitely look much better on this truck with the black grill and A/T tires

I think I’m in love!! Was just on Morimoto web site found these beauties and they are not cheap but I believe like in many cases you get what you pay for. Attached is a picture of both gen2 and gen3 models.

I noticed it says these are not compatible with OEM headlight washer system. I have a ‘13 Sequoia Platinum that does have the washers. Any idea why they aren’t compatible?

 

This is correct, The washers mount to the bottom of the headlight, and the XBs do not have the mounting points. Morimoto will add them, but it wont be until the 2nd batch. Stick around for updated compatibility, Great Question!
