With a 2006 V8, the Haynes repair manual says to rotate crank 50 deg ccw from TDC to take tension off cam springs before removing old timing belt. Yet all the youtube vids say rotate cw 50deg. The manual makes a clear distinction for the ‘06 year. Is this manual accurate?

50 degrees seems like a lot, but it’s definitely CW

You want to use the T marks not the TDC marks. Plenty of videos about this.

I used the T marks but cam springs still sprung 20 deg or so cw when old belt removed. In hindsight I probably should have followed the haynes manual (for ‘06 only) and rotated the crank ccw before removing belt. Which means the mark would not be on the ‘T’. Fwiw

Download the FSM starts on EM17.
Also there is a link here somewhere that takes you to a good page on it.
    Don't trust the Haynes manual.
Mine has some typo's, for my year model. There is a "T" mark for timing belt on the 2006 which is past the TDC mark.
