    Sorry long day at work.
No I dont have a way to check the fuel pressure and also no I have never changed the fuel pump and had the truck since it was new in 06.
was going to reset the ecm, does anyone think that might help or more would it do more damage?

Srangley the fsm tells you to test the fuel pump by jumping the connections, but doesnt give you any conclusions about the results. like it doesnt say plainly " if you get no sound from the pump its bad", but that is what i think it means

You need a pressure gauge. FSM explains how to test fuel pressure.

HAPPY TO REPORT , I think I found my problem.
even though I had looked at wires to chewing, I actually today removed the engine top cover and found a couple chewed wires on the top of the engine between the heads. Both wires go to sensors or plugs.
Kind of tough to see exactly where that are going but tomorrow will access the area to get a better look. One I think goes to the injector sensor (the other end seems to be connected to the fuel line), other one seems to be the knock sensor 1. 2 plug wires chewed through m on with 2 wires one with 3. Hopefully I can just splice in some new wires. thank you everyone. Glad I didn't mess with the fuel pump
Again I couldn't thank everyone enough.
    Freakin rodents!!!

Truck runs, wires were a real pain to get to. But i was able to fix them. The rodents chewed wires basically in the gap underneath the intake manifold. I had looked up on top at the wires and from below but had really taken a flash light and looked down deep into the motor.
    Thank to all for helping

Rodent damage is one of the things in the megathread as a legit issue with these trucks. Why it seems to be so much more than other vehicles I’ve owned over the decades is beyond me, but …

I am happy your saga is over, I think the “ran out of gas, now it won’t start” was a red herring, so I gotta ask: how much time passed between running out of gas, and trying to restart? Hours, days, weeks, months, years? Is it possible you actually still had gas, albeit not a ton, but the truck actually died because of chewing?
