@2006Tundra What is the offset/back spacing on those Method Wheels? Did you need spacers? I see that you did trimming for the future 35’s, do you have any rubbing with the 33.8 or was the pinch weld trimming just for the future?

Hey, I'm not sure what the offset/backspacing are on these wheels are because I didn't ask when I bought them. I did install a 1.5" spacer because I was rubbing on the frame with my 33.8" tires when making tight turns. Since installing the spacer, I started rubbing on the pinch welds so I trimmed those down and I clears with the 33.8" tires.

As a test fit, I installed my 35's from my Tacoma onto my Tundra and I barely squeeze the firewall but I rub on the plastic bumper when I turn. With that said, I will not run 35's unless I get a aftermarket bumper.

Nice! How much of a PITA was it to run the wire for these through the hood supports? I put these small LED pods on my Christmas list to my wife. Going with smaller pods in more places and was hoping wiring isn't too terrible. Also, what did you use for a switch? I was thinking of something like this so they automatically turn on when the hood it opened.

    That's a nice kit.

As for my switch, It came with the kit and its just an on/off toggle switch.
Routing the wires throught the hood wasn't that much of a PITA. You kind of need to get creative and use something to fish with. I used zip ties and a metal coat hanger.

Started a little light project today. I installed a 42" curved LED light bar in the lower part of my bumper. This project took me about 2 1/2 hours. Down below are the parts I used and pictures.
I used the provided wire harness that the light bar came with but cut off their switch so I can use the Toyota switch. I also had to use a Dremel to shave the "switch pocket" to make the switch fit. I didn't need a lot shave but is needed.

Looks great; thanks for the details! Could you post a day time pic of the light bar with the truck back together?

@2006Tundra . . . Sorry for what might be a stupid question. Is there a reason you chose that switch location? I have the same year DC and am considering copying what you did. I was curious if one of the 'Blanks' I have to the left of the steering wheel would work. The more I look at what you did the better I like it. I even sent the pic. to my buddy with a 2003 and He thought it was killer as well.

@HBTundra Not a stupid question. My first thought was the left side of the steering wheel. I just couldn't find a factory switch that would go in that spot. So, since I used these same switches in my 04 Tacoma for my floods and spots, I figured I just use the same ones.
Glad you like the idea. I borrowed the same idea from another member but he used a LED bar without the curve.

If you find a switch the works on the left side of the steering wheel, please, let me know.

Before I forget. The buttons on the left of the steering wheel. The ones for the side mirrors and back window, do they light up with the other lights on the dash when you turn the head lights?

I don’t remember them ever being on or it’s been a really long time since I noticed.

I checked last night and the power mirror / rear-sliding window switches on the left side of the the steering wheel do not light up.
I'm assuming the 'Blank' I have to the right of them is/was for the side view mirror defroster option?
Mines an SR5 model, not the 'Limited'.
i wonder if it's pre-wired behind the blank for the 'option'.
That would be a cool place to have the switch for that light bar, if I were to ever do it.

I thought so. It would be really cool if they lit up.

I believed everything is pre-wired. Toyota made our trucks ready for options when you bought it. I say that because when I did the FOG light mod, everything was there expect the relay and stalk.

That light bar looks sweet! Going to have to steal this idea. They must be out of the 42" version though as it's not listed on the Amazon link you provided... Guess I'll keep my eye open for it.

Does the light kit come with a relay?

I'll use the same switch as you did. I used that switch adding off road lights to my 3rd gen 4runner. It's a common toyota light that has a good solid feel. Also I've already added an auxiliary light to my spot left of steering wheel.

Last question. How hard was it removing the bumper? Any special tools or gotcha's?

@bmc02 Nope super simple and no special tools. Just a Phillips screw driver or 10mm socket I believe. There's several screws under the bumper, 3 push rivets on top and 1 screw behind each wheel well cover. Once you remove all the screws the bumper slides forward. Reverse order to assemble.

Hey man got any pictures of the trimming you did in the fender wells? I’ve got a set of methods with 4.5 backspace and looking at 1.25 spacers which will net net 3.25 backspace (same setup your running)

The only ones I have are here (Link). 2 ways you can do it. Bash the pinch weld with a hammer OR cut the pinch welds and weld them back. I don't know how to weld so I contacted a local guy to do it for me.
