If it is real dirty you need to clean the Power steering filter. Which is a second chamber in bottom of the container. Remove from truck and back flush it to get clean.
It is like a strainer in the bottom of the reservoir/ container that goes to a second chamber. Cant see this unless you remove. Mine was clogged pretty bad.
After I changed mine it evidently increase the pressure enough I notice then my Rack & Pinion had a leak.

My 2005 Tundra 180K is making the same noise; what ended up being the issue in this video? I power washed mine after coming home from the snowy mountains and it sounds horrible and is driving me crazy. I shot PB in key areas one part at a time with no change at all in noise. It’s hard to pin-point the location as it resonates throughout the lower pass side. My rack bushing is in good shape and I don’t see any movement in it when my wife is moving wheel back and forth. Very slow turning in place, turning into the dip in my driveway at slow speed is the worst noise makers. Thank you

Multiple people responded with the most correct guess of Lower Ball Joints unfortunately most who come here to find an answer, get one, fix their truck and vanish without reporting back what fixed it. Assume it’s your LBJs until proven otherwise.

If you haven’t done this. Take some silicone spray lubricant and spray a little here (your steering column)IMG_4273.jpgThere’s a rubber seal in there that causes the symptoms you’re describing. Creaking sound with truck off.

my truck would creak on turns. I finally located the sound and a little lube later. Zero sounds while turning.

While there check if the rubber boot is torn and R2 if needed.

Boot was good and I silicone lubed it, but the noise is still creaking down on the pass side (I do think that it helped a little with a squeak I had in the cab when turning into my driveway). I’m leaning toward what others have stated with it being the LBJ and will be doing those soon…and I will report back with what I discover.
Thanks to everyone for the good maintenance tips!

Could be, did you check your leaf springs to make sure there’s a plastic disc between each leaf near the end?

It’s definitely coming from front passenger lower control arm/ball joint/tie rod end. I can get it to do it with vehicle off and moving steering wheel back and forth. Once I get the parts for my wife’s car in and finished I’ll move onto my Tundra (then back onto my 1981 Celica Supra resto…these modern cars problems are taking my old Toyota time away!)

I wanted to update the thread to reflect what I’ve done and the results I’ve had. I replaced the upper and lower control arms, upper and lower ball joints, outer tie-rod ends, sway bar frame bushings & endlinks and steering rack bushings. All parts were OEM Toyota parts except the steering rack bushing set (Energy) and sway bar end links (Napa). I had an alignment done after I replaced all the above parts.
These repairs/improvements has total eliminated the horrible noise that I was having that was the same as the video in this post (the noise on my truck was coming from pass side and sounded like lower control arm area…although I couldn’t stop the noise after spraying lube in every moving part on front end linkage). I will add that this also significantly improve ride characteristics and handling. Thank you to everyone!
