What is the magic temp? Once engine warms up completely? Or somewhere in the middle? Curious as always.

Yep. Wonder what they’ll say after 200k?

I took mine to the local independent Toyota shop and they did it for $115 and I sat there and BS'd with the guy the whole time. I thought I had a tranny fluid leak which turned out to be the water pump. He looked at the tranny fluid and said it was time to replace. This was at 260k and I am not sure if it had ever been flushed before that, but probably not.

Drive around, allow atf temp to reach 100 or so. Using scanguage 2.
Park on level surface. Extremely important.
Go through all gears while parked.
Loosen fill plug first and then hit the drain plug.
Approximately 2 quarts will drain - use a clear drain pan with graduated marks. Put drain plug back in. Might need a new washer.
Refill 2.5 quarts to be safe. Run a funnel through the engine bay and refill or use a pump and refill underneath vehicle.
Using scanguage 2, once temp is around 114 but no higher than 130 ( double check temperature for your specific year ), loosen the check plug and allow it to drain to a trickle and reinsert check plug
Torque fill, drain, and check plug to correct number.
Repeat that 2 or 3 more times over the course of a month or so .
Ive been using amsoil atf with great success. Seems to shift a lot smoother than Toyotas WS atf. Anyways good luck, lots of videos on YouTube. Its not a difficult procedure by any means, just takes an hour or so.
