I’m not sure if a have the premium sound system, most likely not, I have been wanting to install that stereo on mine. Just wondering if it would be a difficult install. Thank you.

Toyota sells the adapter harness and a microphone to make the Bluetooth work and steering wheel controls work. If you don’t mind wiring you can make the reverse camera work and have speed input into the radio for the factory nav too. I’ve been happy with mine. I actually went a bit further and setup front and rear any time camera module for a 3rd gen Tacoma

Do you know if the steering wheel controls are prewired or the whole steering wheel needs to be replaced to add the controls. Btw I just realized I came across your YouTube videos a while ago lol

My truck was wired to the spiral
Cable, but I had to add three wires to the radio harness itself.

Airbag and/or at least the airbag cover needs to be replaced to add controls to the wheel. Wheel is the same, generally, and multiple Toyota models including some Sienna and Camry used the same wheel, with varying colors.

As for whether or not the truck is pre-wired to accept the steering wheel controls, that's the $20,000 question nobody has answered. Seems the answer for later years where it was a factory question is "yes" (like, '05/'06 all I've seen were pre-wired). For earlier years, it may not be the case, which means you may be adding a newer-year clockspring at least, and maybe some sub-harnesses or wiring fill-ins.

I can seek out the big post I wrote up about wheels and wheel controls if you really want it.
