I ordered a new replacement passenger side lock from Toyota to replace my damaged lock. The new lock does not match. Has anyone else had this problem?
May try to get a used part from a wrecking yard, and try to re-key it myself

The lock I ordered said it would fit 2000-2006. But bezel is a little to short and a little bigger diameter with 2 rod arms. It won't fit my handle.

Is it possible you got a double cab part? Although with it saying it would fit 2000-2006 that wouldn't make sense. What part number did you order?

I'll also link you to this thread for looking up parts as well. Link

Where did you order it from? Clearly not Toyota, they never list things as being "2000-2006 compatible" (there aren't many parts that are)

What cab type do you have, since there's wild differences for Double Cab truck parts?

    Interior lock, or exterior lock?

If interior, what color interior, tan, lighter grey or darker grey?

I assume interior based on the word "bezel", but I don't like jumping to conclusions. OEM replacement interior handle is only ~$26 if ordered through the Toyota Parts site. I bought two spares for my truck a few months back direct from Toyota online.

    Thanks for the replies.
The Part No.: 69051-34040 is the one that I ordered.
The truck I have is a single cab, so maybe they sent me a double cab part? I didn't know if there was a difference.
I put in the search that it was a single.
The 2 flanges on the housing are actually for mounting bolt holes. I miss-spoke in previous thread. I tried to modify the part I got so it would bolt to the handle, but that's when I found that the bezel was about 1/8 shorter than the original and that the bezel diameter is about a 1/16 to big and won't fit into the handle properly.

I can't reuse my old bezel, from the door lock on the truck since it was the part that was damaged the most, when they punched it with a screwdriver..

The part number you gave doesn't fit your truck. It's only for Doube Cab trucks, apparently. Taken direct from Toyota's parts site for the part number you gave me:

Oh, I should ask. Do you not have a dealership near you to give you the right part number so you can order it online via https://parts.toyota.com ?

If not, is that all you need, is the EXTERIOR key/lock cylinder, and nothing else?

It looks like the correct part for your truck is probably 6905134030, a dealership can confirm:

    https://parts.toyota.com/p/63278328/6905134030.html

Click the "WHAT THIS FITS" section to confirm. You can also double-confirm by plugging your VIN in the fitment checker there, or calling your local dealership.

If you order from that Toyota Parts site, their $100+ MSRP price will drop quite a bit lower lower depending on which dealership you pick to buy it from - if you order it at the parts counter, they force you to pay full MSRP, but you can order online at discount for direct pickup at the dealership. I wouldn't order on scAmazon or fleaBay, you risk getting counterfeit parts. I tried 3 dealerships near me through the website, and one had it for $78 (~25% off), a couple had it for $80 (~20% off) and one had it for $73 or something (~30% off).

    Shifty,
I do have a dealer close. But work and time restrictions make that difficult.
I used the link you supplied to the Toyota online parts ordering. And noticed something odd, after closer inspection.
This is one diagram of the part I need.
    upload_2022-10-21_10-39-42.jpg
The sight shows the same part# for the door lock cylinder RH, for the regular and the access cab.
But in the diagram above and the one for the Access cab, you can clearly see that the parts look different.
This is really a problem with the Toyota parts sight.
There should be separate part#s since they look different even in the site diagrams.
    Very frustrating and expensive mistakes.
It's obvious that I shouldn't have tried to modify the part to fit. Making it non-returnable. That was my bad.
The web site does say that this part# 69051-34040 fits my vehicle.

In the previous post. I need the regular cab lock cylinder RH. But they both list the same part number.

I've been working through the parts site for a long while now, looking up parts for other people.

I can tell you with 100% confidence that 6905134040 is absolutely NOT the correct part for your truck. The fitment list on that part's page at Toyota's own website clearly says it's only for Sequoia and Double Cab.

Part 6905134030 at the site - which I linked above - clearly says it is for Access Cab and Regular Cab trucks, for your year, and your engine type in the fitment list.

It's up to you. It's really shitty if you bought that part at the dealership, they got you the wrong part. I'm about 90% sure they should've sold you 6905134030.

If it's not clear, you cannot often trust the pictures shown at the Toyota Parts site. They need to make exploded diagrams to fit tons of variations of models of trucks. To a certain degree, all those exploded diagrams are genericized to get you in the ballpark. You gotta know how to finish the last mile. I left a sticky at the top of the forum that may help.

Thanks Shifty, I appreciate your efforts and feed back.
The only problem is that I used the site, putting in the year(2003),make(Tundra) and model(3.4L A/T 2WD Regular Cab)
And this is the part number that comes up listed. And checking the "does it fit my vehicle" confirmed a yes. It does.
If you are getting results that are different by searching using the part number, then this is clearly an error on Toyota parts site.
    I can't fix their issue.
I can only go by what it brings up in the search.

Wow I just noticed that you are probably correct.
I double checked my order and it appears that I got part#69051-34040.
And the Toyota site shows that I should have been getting part#69051-34030?
I didn't even realize that I was not reading these numbers correctly.
    Wow. My bad again.
    Glad you kept replying.
It finally sunk into my head, what the actual problem was. "Wrong part listed, ordered, and shipped"
    Thanks again.
I guess maybe I should try the dealer to get the correct part this time.
Now I am upset with myself for not seeing all of this sooner.
Again. Really grateful for the help

Now I just have to make sure I get 69051-34030 !!!!!
    And not 69051-34040?

I feel really dumb now wish I wasn't reading so fast that I was skipping over the numbers and not seeing the error of my ways
    :monocle:
    Thanks again.

Hey, it's all good, I wasn't taking it the wrong way

Just tryin' to help out. Good luck with getting this squared away, I can tell you they probably won't take the part back if it's been touched. They usually make you refuse the part at the counter, while it remains unopened. Once you open it, unless they're the ones who opened it, it's game over. No refunds. Check with your dealer though. And it's worth giving them your VIN and asking them to confirm it's the correct part this time, even though the Toyota Parts site literally appears to say the new p/n I gave you is correct.

    Thanks Shifty.

I went ahead and bit the bullet. And just ordered the 69051-34030 part from the Toyota parts link you gave.
It cost a little more, but I guess getting the correct part is better than getting the wrong one.
I will chalk this up to. Live and learn.
Thanks for the help and getting me squared away on the correct part number.

I will update later(hopefully after getting the correct and new part installed)
    Cheers!
    Have a wonderful day!

I got the new (correct) part# and was able to re-key the tumblers using the wafers from the damaged and wrong part that I had ordered. Guess ordering the wrong part wasn't a total waste of money.
Thanks again for your patience and help Shifty.

Wait - so you were actually able to re-key the new part to use your stock key?

I'd love to hear more info on this. I know some guys like @bmf4069 (IIRC) had to get a new gas door lock cylinder, and are still using different keys.

Did you just swap over the whole old tumbler, or actually re-key the lock? I'd love to learn how to do the latter.

My old lock cylinder tumbler was damaged beyond use. Some of the keyed wafers were missing and damaged also.
But after watching a couple different YouTube videos on how to swap in the wafers to my old key, I was able to re-use about 3 from the back of my original tumbler and 3 from the two new tumblers that I had ordered to make a good tumbler set to match my original key.

The wafers are marked with a number from 1-4. And so you can swap the correct number to make your old key work. It just takes patience and a little time and care not to damage the parts.

Having 2 extra lock cylinders and half of the wafers from my original lock cylinder that were still usable gave me enough wafers to swap into the new correct part, that I was able to mix and match the original key.
The wrong part that I ordered first had 7 wafers to choose from. And the correct part along with my original cylinder came with 6 wafers( only 3 original wafers were still reusable). For a total of 16 wafers that I could use to match my original key shape.
