On my other 2000 V6 I had a problem with the the engine running rough at time. Mostly at idle. Acting like it would cut off. Took to a couple places and then to dealer. Sometimes it would run a little better if I just cleaned the MAF sensor. And if the throttle body was cleaned it would run great for a short while. But problem would come back. After 6 months of dealing with this. Finally just had to replace the whole throttle body. Finally solved the problem.

This guy was also going into limp mode. I'm still convinced it was just his TPS causing the prob, not the throttle body assembly, but ... We'll never know.

Still, OP may want to check this thread out, since his is going down a similar course: https://www.tundras.com/threads/bad-idle-accel-after-spark-plug-change.93321/

Where are you finding those crazy O2 sensor prices?

Depends on year. Early model trucks are cheaper standard 1v sweep type o2 sensors, later model (05/06?) are the more accurate 5v air fuel ratio sensors iirc.

$47 after shipping at least to my area.

They're cheaper at other places. This has always been my issue with RA by the time you pay shipping, sometimes from multiple sites, it's not even worth the savings per part.

Even when applying the Tundras.com forum 5% off coupon?

I dunno, I was pretty stoked. $19 to ship a 25lb alternator and serpentine belt to me. I was expecting much worse.

Yup. For instance that sensor, RA is 38.79+6.99 shipping+ 2.75 tax for me-1.79 discount= 46.47 Besos is 45.15 total, Wally World and Home Depot have them available for around that price also.

Even your 130amp alt, Napa has right now for $168 shipped including the core of $36 (for the reman 130amp Denso)

I hear you. It's not lost on me that I'm lucky enough I can to afford to pick and choose where my dollar goes without worrying whether I can keep the utilities on, so if the price difference in supporting a family owned US business like RA versus supporting a behemoth like scAmazon, HD or Wally is only 2.9% or $1.32 in this case, I know where my money is going. :D

For the record though, I always price against NAPA, Advance Auto and Summit Racing when buying. For my Denso 130A (210-1065). Difference was mostly negligible, but RA was still cheaper once I factor in travel time, gas, and other stuff.

    Napa: $215.99 + 85.37 core
    RA: $206.79 + $79 core (NOTE: before 5% discount)
Summit: $201.99 + $70 core (NOTE: I'd spend $20 in gas to pickup & return)

To boot, NAPA didn't have any locally in-stock. Summit Racing lead time was 2 months and now is listed as 'lead time unavailable'. Rock Auto had confirmed stock in-hand.

That's a fair point. This was just an observational point from my end, 1 part typically isn't a huge deal but when you start ordering multiple things from RA and they ding you 4 separate shipping charges it's hard to accept for me. This was all pre supply chain issues also so that's made a difference as well.

Good to know. I just ran it off my 06 and assumed it was the same price.

So, as much as I love my 06, here are the downsides
    • Upstream O2 sensors are more
    • SAIS
    • Steering rack is about double
    • Crazy brake master cylinder is made from solid unobtanium, stupid expensive and doesn't actually exist anyway
    • The cruise control is designed to keep the rpm's as high as possible without blowing up the engine, downshift at every pebble, hold that downshift until the downhill become so steep that the rear tires are off the ground and when first set will rev the engine to scare away little cars
On the plus side, I can fit all my kids and use my factory steering wheel controls!

Wait ... I thought this point was only true for trucks w/VSC? My '06 doesn't have the unobtanium MC. And I haven't had the same experience with cruise.

Curious about this. I'm getting P0161 but it's saying bank 2 sensor 2. Two codes for the same issue?

One refers to low voltage, the other a short. Two different failures for the same part.
