I will be changing out my fuel filter for my 03 sequoia soon. My filter is held by a 90 degree hose with a red clip and the other end by a nut. I have seen 2004-2005 sequoia filters with nuts on both ends.

Is one end just held on by the red clip alone or does the 90 degrees hose sleeve over the hose and the clip is just there for safety?

Should I open my gas cap when changing out this filter? How much fuel will be lost when the filter is taken out?

    Thanks
