Do not do a new Taco! Trust me. Two friends bought and got rid of them within a year. Both in newer Turd Gens. Nice but too big. Better than Taco though.

Shop called today and said it has a bad crankshaft position sensor. Getting a new Toyota sensor installed and hope to be back in business.

This'll be the first I've heard of a CKS going bad on these trucks. Do you have a leaky water pump?

No. The water pump is fine. I replaced it along with the timing belt about 2 years ago.

Yep. I think a lot of people here will agree with you. The first gen is the right size tundra. Everything else got too bloated.

Eh, we where partially right. We all said it wasn't a tranny issue. Some of us said specifically that it was a sensor of some kind.

Not quite. I don't have it back yet. I am telling you t
It's a goldilocks size. Not too big or too small. The 2020 Double Cab Tacomas are very close in height, length, and width as my Access Cab 2001 Tundra. The cabin feels much more spacious in my Tundra. I kept hitting my head getting in and out of the driver's seat of the new Tacoma. I'm only about 6 ft tall.

    Seems plausible.

As @bmf4069 said, it's not a common failure with Toyotas (at least in my experience). But I've seen that issue in other brands, and the symptoms were similar to yours. Hope that fixes it. Keep us posted.

Yup, common problem in my SHOs. But they only fail because the WP fails and weeps coolant onto them. Itll just up and die and give a crank/no start situation at first. Then it just refused to start if not addressed. It's a bitch to get to an requires a full tear down of the front of the motor.

Now if it's in the same position and you gotta remove the timing belt and crank pulley, and your due for that service, might as well do it.
