So I have a $200 GC for Best Buy and want to use it towards the truck.
I'm either going to get some sort of aftermarket alarm, or replace those cheesy JBL speakers the truck came with.

    Thoughts?

One more voice for Viper. I added it primarily for the remote start. It's great.

Funny thing is that Best Buy is one of the recommended preferred dealers/installers listed on Vipers support site.......I've never used the Geeks. I do my own wiring.

This...I let them attempt to install a viper remote start twice and the guy couldn't figure it out either time. All I got out of the deal was a rattle somewhere in my dash that I can't get to shut the hell up and 2 days without my truck.

There are some decent Viper installers listed in the Denver area that have pretty good reputation.

I'm late to the party, but I vote speaker replacement. They suck. Plus, I'm assuming you, like most, have insurance. If someone steals my truck, which is unlikely, I could care less. That's State Farm's problem.

Can't hurt to have an alarm. May reduce insurance premiums. Speakers do suck. That's what ********* is for...

Don't forget to check the Best Buy and other website for deals on viper alarm. As they will price match. They sometimes have better deals on bb.com then in stores.

    See fine print
Personally I wouldn't get an alarm installed at BestBuy. Have heard some horror stories with their installations. And an alarm is something you don't want to install wrong. Besides, I highly recommend Fortin over Viper anyday.

Just buy something outright and install it yourself. Speakers, DoubleDin Stereo.

I've had a $50 BB GC for almost a year. I almost never go there because I'm not fond of them. I didn't think about applying it to some speakers though. Is it worth swapping out the stock speakers without amping them?
