How and what process is the best way to pop the center cap off without any damages?

If changing with wheels on, use a plastic trim tool that's thin enough at the tip. If no trim tool, use a tiny flat-head wrapped in a rag to get between hub and cap, then gently pry. If you slip, the rag should prevent scratching.

Hey, Tacoma Town in AB has them in stock. No need to check VIN or anything just add them to your cart and pay. Shipping is a bit expensive, but if you need a bed mat or TRD bars the have them too.

Thanks...i got a shipping notification from Elmhurst so it looks like they are coming. With shipping im only looking at about $42CDN per cap...unless they hit me with duty.

Definitely wish i would have seen these first though... i think i like the black ones better !

Willing to buy a complete set of the Toyota Tundra center cap. If anyone have upgraded to the TRD center cap and wants to get rid of their old center cap then please let me know.

I had this same experience, albeit TRD aluminum side steps, with my local dealer. I had the part the number and they wouldn’t sell me it without a VIN. I told him that instil didn’t get delivery of the truck but wanted them in before it came as my kids and my elderly mom needed assistance to get into the truck. He said no (he also said it was on back order by 180 units). I found Tacoma Town (which is an ancillary to Cochrane Toyota in AB) online and they had an online shop where I just dropped it in my cart and paid. It was delivered to my door two days later. I get that they are trying to prevent returns with the wrong part, but this gatekeeping is straight-up infuriating.

Once my new caps come in and i can confirm they fit without issue id be willing to sell mine. Not sure the shipping would be though depending on where you are...

Here’s an update, I ordered the black and red TRD center caps PT280-34221-2F from Tacoma town online after getting a verbal confirmation that they would fit my 18” wheels on my 2022 SR5 off road. Just received and tried them, they don’t fit. The grease cap sticks out to far/the caps sit to deep in the rims. I’d still love to find something with the same look if anyone has any suggestions. PS even after confirming incorrectly that they would fit, I’m having to eat the cost of shipping.535E46C2-65D1-46B1-ACD1-D8525D75DA95.jpgC55B9969-1170-4D9B-8FDA-ED7E41FA639D.jpg

It looks like we have the same wheels, do you have a picture of your new centre caps pushed all the way in? Mine seem to be the exact same design, different part number, I’m assuming because mine didn’t have the red ring, and they wouldn’t push all the way in, hitting the grease cap.

Don't have a pic, but they snapped in tight in the rear wheels I tested them on. Double checked that they fit all way around - very snug. Front wheel may be different, but you could just dremel the plastic clip somewhat where needed if it's hitting the hub. Seems there might be a difference between the ones with the red ring, and ones without, when fitting on 18s, but not sure.

I am putting my TRD caps on new 20" TRD wheels so didn't test the fronts.

thanks for the update, weird that they appear to be different. I didn’t even think about modifying them, I just shipped them back. Hopefully I can find something that fits.

Are these the 20" sport package wheel? I love them, but can't find them on the Toyota build site.

Those are the 20" TRD Off Road wheels that come on USA trucks optioned with the Adventure pkg, and NA in Canada.
Ordered mine from the US when my parts guys couldn't even find the number in the system.
They will be mounted on the truck tomorrow with 275/65 Cooper AT3 XLTs.

Really wish Toyota made an 18 inch version of this instead of the ugly assed machined "bead locker" they put on mine.

Can confirm that the red TRD center cap PT280-89210-F2 will not fit the front 18" silver and black TRD rims due to the ?grease cap? behind the rim. The TRD caps are probably 1/8" - 1/4" thicker in the middle than the stock ones and will not lock into place...

Think a dremel tool could fix that?

Don't think so, there is no way that i can see to modify the back on the new plastic cap without destroying it as its hitting in the middle of the cap against the hub grease/dust cover behind the wheel. The only option i can see would be to modify or remove the hub dust cap.

Oh well. Thanks for pointing it out. I had considered ordering some as I'm planning on painting the machined part of my 18s as a temporary fix until the new FN BFDs come out.

I know this post was a while back, hopefully someone out there might know. I have the black trd 20” rims but have no need for them with my ‘22 pro. Not sure what to post them for sale in Alberta Canada. They weren’t cheap last year lol
