Whats up Tundra fam! Ok so just picked up my 2018 Limited 4x4 last week and the build process has began, but I'm lost!

I used to be into the truck and lift world about 14 years ago but now, I dont know whats what. Im reading as much as I can on lift types and verbiage as I can.

Ive got a few quotes and recommendations and looking for some Tundra input.

    Icon stage 2, tucking 35s on 17s ($5500)
    Fabtech Budget 4", 35s with 18s ($5200)
    BDS 4.5", 35's on 17 or 18s ($6800)
MaxTrac 6", 35's on 17's or 18's (no quote yet)

Im not an avid offroader, mainly a freeway driver. Want something reliable/dependable for a bugout situation in case I gotta get off the main road and hit dirt. Also, this might sound stupid or n00bish, but keeping the manufacture warranty in place as much as possible is also important. Ive been told that its a pretty big grey area once you put a lift on.

If you have any of the above would love to see it and/or hear any feedback possible!

    Icon option sounds best.

Warranty on suspension will be void, anything else will be covered still.

    Icon.

I wish my 3/1 was about an inch lower. I prefer the more squatted look. Any bigger and I’d feel like a db but that’s me. Keep it classy San Diego

Most lifts at the 4" + lift height are drop bracket lifts and require you to cut your frame cross-member. Will be hard to argue warranty with a cut cross-member.
My recommendation is to keep with a 3/1" lift utilizing new adjustable coilovers and block or shackle in the rear. A 3/1 lift will fit 35" tires. This give a great look, good ground clearance, good ride quality and is most reliable.
I ended up with the 3/1 Toytec lift with front Toytec Radflo 2.5" coilovers and rear Toytec boss shocks with reservoirs. Highly recommend.

As someone who had a bracket lift (BDS) don’t do it...
Icon kit hands down for you OP

Best option and closest to stock to avoid warranty issues

Is the Icon considered a 3/1 or was that just the Toytec option? Im leaning towards the Icon (Forgot to mention this will come with UCAs). Is there any rake with that? And does that mess with the TSS at all? I like the lower lifts, gives it a more aggressive stance.

Also I agree, every shop I've called I've said I dont want to cut or even trim if I can help it.

Buddy of mine works for MaxTrac, said their 6" lift is unique because it doesnt cut the cross member. One Offroad shop was telling me about BDS and said even though they do cut the cross member that BDS has a warranty of their own that covers powertrain 5yr/60k miles. So if Toyota wouldnt warranty something, BDS would. Thats why I was considering those options.

If you go with the Icon, I suggest a different UCA. I know of several trucks that can't get proper camber adjustment using Icon tubular arms, mine having been one of 'em. I put their arms on top of my replacement arms and sure enough, they're .5" shorter.

I've never heard anyone complain about Total Chaos UCAs.
Looked up the Max trax lift, I hadn't seen it before.

Get icon coil overs and rears w TC uppers , spend the few extra bucks and get them w heim joints much more adjustment in them for alignment and for the rear either run the icon add a leaf or a full leaf pack replacement like Deacer or icon

You can add rake with a 1.5 shackle or block. Seems most are using shackles now. Mine is a 3/1.5 on my 18. No TSS issues, no CMC. I also have the TC UCAs.

Kings would be my setup of choice. But between Toytec/Kings/Icon i don’t think you can go wrong

Here’s my setup. You can see the rake here as well.

I had a BDS 4.5” installed on my 2018 a few months ago with 35 Toyos and Fuel 20” rims for $5000 out the door. I would shop around a bit with whatever lift you decide. Good luck with your purchase!

All depends on how high you want to go. If the only thing holding you back from the 6” is warranty I’d say screw it and just go big. I was in the same dilemma when I bought my truck and didn’t want to lose the warranty. Ended up saying screw it and just did the 6”, truck only had 800 miles on it. 5 years later and I haven’t had to take it in to the dealer 1 time. The only time it’s been there was to do the trd reflash.

Rubbing on oem front liners and flaps. Removed the part covering the front bumper and added aftermarket $25 splash guards and no rubbing on anything

Pro comp has a 4” drop bracket kit that also is a bolt in deal and doesn’t require cutting the x-member. That could be an option for you too.

Go with a 6 inch lift. I got a RC and love it, running 35 x 12.5 x 22’s and no rubbing issues whatsoever. RC also covers what the factory won’t for 5 years or 60000 miles. I put a 2 inch lift on my Tacoma and always regretted it, now I say go big or leave it stock...

At the end of the day just make sure your happy. When it comes to warranty I would try and use as many bolt on items as possible. But 35s on a 3inch lift looks good to me but that’s just me :bananadance:
