We've done all kinds of stuff up to low speed turns and emergency braking from 15MPH. One of the instructors said I had the best use of brakes in the class. I think everyone was afraid of the front brake. They had us practice getting up to speed and shifting to 2nd then coming to a stop as we downshift. We did low speed slalom through cones too.

We haven't been at war with Japan lately, or have we? I think making studs unnecessarily long like this is a declaration of war. My deep socket isn't deep enough, no room for a box end, and too tight for a crows foot. I'm a little stuck here admittedly.

I'm going out on a limb and saying that's a 14mm? These sockets linked below are 120 mm long. So if my brain math is working right, which it ain't, just a hair under 5 inches long?

I'm good with metric but not the conversion

Tried but no real room for leverage. This nut is supposed to be 40ftlbs but it feels more like 80ftlbs.

@Tundra2 its a 17 but I'm definitely going to invest in longer deep sockets. Sometimes you need them.

I got to the bastard. All I had to do was drain the oil, lift the motor, pull a motor mount, pull the serpentine belt, pull the power steering pump, pull the tensioner (had to find the hidden bolt for that), pull the motor mount (after cutting an inch off the stud) and pry the little cap off. Wiped it clean but I replaced it anyway. I tore the gasket prying it out.

New one is in, time to reassemble and hope that fixed the problem. If not, its been an interesting day getting intimate with this Honda at least.

Got it all back together. Filled it with oil, double checked for loose hoses, wires, or bolts. Closed my eyes and fired it up. All sounded fine, super quiet because I had reset the ECU. Drove around my block to warm it up. Stopped to look under the hood, all okay. Went for a drive around town and revved it to 5k a dozen times or more. No problem yet.

I don't have my hopes up yet, if a few drive cycles go by and it doesn't act up then today was a victory. Now its time for pizza and beer, then I'll go wash it.
