the garage is pretty safe. i put the white tacoma in the backyard under the deck. the only car in the driveway is the blue corolla. both cars outside have no batteries. so if they tried to steal it. it aint going anywhere. if they try to burn them... the house is probably on fire too and im likely dead.

Does anyone elses truck occasionally blow a small puff of blue smoke on startup? My dad says not to worry about it at all. He said its 100 percent normal for older vehicles

Take her out on the highway for a ‘spirited’ drive. That should blast some carbon out.

We had some activity within 4 miles of my house after midnight last night, drones & helicopter orbiting, tear gas fired, arrest made downtown while an attempted burglary of an Academy Sports was happening another 4 miles away in another direction. I slept through the the entire ordeal.

It makes me glad to live where I do in times like this. Rona didn't really hit here, no riots, extremely conservative. TP hoarders did strike though. I live south of Amarillo and am working west of Amarillo so I dont even see "the big city" that often. There have been protests, and some are planned this week. I doubt they'll get outta hand.

I'm gonna change the pcv valve (pretty sure its original). Then i might change to 10w30 oil. But i mean its not making any change to the dipstick so i really should not worry.

We had a group of white college looking kids out smashing random vehicles last night, just a few miles from my house. Some people are just using this as an opportunity to be an ass. I think my dog will wake us up if someone is outside vandalizing our vehicles.

I drove through LA yesterday to check out a dog that we may adopt. On the way out we saw a caravan of police in suburbans, at least 25 of them heading down the freeway. We saw national guard on the freeway as well driving the Humvees and what looked like unimogs, rolled my window down and gave them a thumbs up.

On our way back there were helicopters everywhere and we saw the same caravan of cops heading the other way towards Santa Monica. I asked my wife to take a pic but all she got was the tail end of it.
    Image-1(1).jpg

We watched the news when we got home and cheered when the cops started grabbing the looters.

These folks are destroying the lives/livelihoods of their family, friends and neighbors....and will be even more upset when companies aren’t willing to rebuild/move back in to affected areas that they helped destroy. Rioting and burning and looting has an affect on communities for generations.

I feel really bad for a lot of store owners and the employees of those stores. I can't imagine how they feel when they've been closed for 10 weeks and just got the green light to open, now their businesses are devastated and will be unable to open for who knows how long.

There were a lot of stores and restaurants burned to the bare structure in the last few days. LA County Public Works is notorious for being hard to get permits signed off and construction completed.

Curfew for business district in place as 1pm now and for residential at 6pm. We'll see if the police and National Guard get more aggressive tonight.

They're still mentioning it, they're expecting spikes with the large gatherings.

I watched Reddit flip in one week. They went from shaming anyone that didn't wear a mask/social distance to celebrating these huge gatherings. There is no doubt cases will spike after all these huge groups pile up together.

I support peaceful protests but I hate hypocrites.

For a nice floor jack and good jack stands you're looking at $200. It will easily cost more than that to have someone do the work. The impact is very nice and I love it, but by no means necessary for suspension work.

I don't remember what all you're doing, but the bolts on the top of the rear shocks are by far the hardest part

@rock climber is right, I went 20 years without an impact. In fact, even though I have one today I often forget to use it and grab the breaker bar instead.

If you have a place to work on your truck and store the tools a good jack and stands is a great investment. Don't go cheap, get something that exceeds the weight of your truck, and keep an eye out for min/max lift.

I like my newest jack because its low profile and long reaching, that helps a lot on cars. It has pretty good lift height as well and that helps on my truck, plus the long reach means I can get it under the rear axle and still have room to pump.

I've also learned that having the right tool makes all the difference. Yesterday I couldn't fit my new CV between my ICON C/O and my factory bump-stop so I decided to remove the bump-stop. A simple job took over an hour because I didn't have the right tool. It was exhausting.

On the other hand, that bolt on top of the rear shock was a breeze for me because of that long ratcheting wrench I've shared here a few times. That tool alone has made 2-3 jobs easier, including the needle bearing yesterday.

Tools are your friend. I need more. :spending:

I wouldn't think of it as "swells your seals", but more of "brings them back to life". But it's not a miracle cure. If your seals are shot, they need replaced.

Got recommendations for jacks? Last time I switched my struts the hardest part was getting the bottom bolt out and back in so thats What I am worried about, taking it apart and getting stuck with no truck for a few days

Also for rear shock replacement I dont need a jack right? or do I need it full droop to get it right.
