Weird. @bmf4069 is that normal (or necessary) to have multiple GFI outlets in one chain?

I'm sure there's some reassurance of seeing the pretty red and black buttons anywhere near water. They make GFCI stickers for upstream outlets, our house had them in the upstairs bathrooms when we moved in. (their GFI outlet is in the middle-floor bathroom, which is directly upstairs from the main panel)

I think it's the size, honestly. If you go back through my automotive history, the 1GT is far and away the largest vehicle I've ever owned.
It lumbers through traffic compared to what I've typically driven. Indy isn't exactly NYC, Chicago, or LA, but we have pretty hectic traffic and I spend a lot of time in it. If my commute were only a couple miles, I don't reckon I'd even consider selling it. I wouldn't spend nearly the amount of time in it, nor would I need it to be more nimble. As things are, I drive at least 50 miles a day through frenetic traffic. Lots of brake-checks for NO GOOD GODDAMNED REASON and then mash the gas. I try staying all the way right to avoid the fracas and that's where these southern inbred MFers are all mashing brakes and gas trying to figure out how to merge into a 65mph freeway whilst going 35. Taking surface streets is an untenable idea as it would triple the amount of time I spend commuting, if not quadruple. I have tried leaving earlier and even that is a fool's errand. To make early departure leave, I arrive at work an hour before the very earliest I can be scheduled....and usually aren't.
IDK if it doesn't fit my needs or if I just don't love it. Either way, I don't enjoy driving it, I tolerate it.

I think I'm slowly working my way through all the makes and models trying to find the perfect combo of cars/trucks/humvees/choppercycles/bicycles/whatever for me. If the damned T4R had this 2UZ in it, I'd still have it for sure. That 5vzfe is just awful.

This is a concern. It's part of why it's taken me two years to get to this point. I will be real pissed if I sell the Tundra and then Kelly says we can move to the Poconos. My commute will shrink and the truck will be more appropriate. But as things are, and it appears they'll continue this way, the truck isn't a great fit for my needs/life.

    Shit, I know a guy with a v8 4wd 1GT. :D
    But you're exactly right.

@chrisb thats quite similar to how I wound up selling my truck. My commute was 32 miles for much of that time. I owned a motorcycle because parking was horrible at the destination, and I ride my bicycle a lot. I did not like the Tundra for commuting.

I got a ‘06 Corolla as a second vehicle, as my dad and gf ganged up on me about the motorcycle. Then my gf started using the Corolla for her commute since she decided to sell her car. I had switched jobs so my commute was shorter at that point.

After we split, I had no real need for two vehicles. It made more sense when I lived far from most jobs but I had moved closer and parking was now extra tight. I sold my truck in part because neighbors complained about my house having 4 vehicles (I had two roommates after my gf bailed).

Long story short, I definitely prefer my Tacoma for traffic. I specifically bought an MT for traffic for that reason. It gives me something to do so I don’t fall asleep with the boredom as I was doing in my Prius (which replaced the Corolla and was an ironic purchase given how few miles I put on it.)

If you can swap your commuter and somehow keep the truck, that might be a good short term plan.

    The truck is my daily.
The 911 is the fairweather car.
In the short-term, I can drive Kelly's car a day or three a week...but I'm not keen to rack up a ton of miles on her nice car just so I can save gas and be less miserable AND keep the Tundra.

    Similarly, I don't need a 4th car.

Everything is so nice afterward. After a quick jaunt around the neighborhood my truck is world class. Hell, id prefer pushing my tundra up hill than to drive this.

He had liability. The 95 Tacoma is a clean title too since the title never transferred to the insurance company. Buy backs out here also never get branded since the title stays with the owner

In theory, you have the 1st outlet a gfi, then load side the rest of the run. You only need one gfi for the bathrooms, no matter how many, so cheap contractors will hit the closet to the panel then load side the others. Same with the outside outlets. The only gfi breaker you should see is for new houses for the DW/disp. Or any weird shit we don't have here in Texas.

Since this thread was temporarily an episode of home improvement.

Since our freeze last week i’ve found water in my water heater pan.

    No leaks at the connections.

    Where is it coming from?

i figure this thing is pressurized, and a pinhole would make some sort of noise.

any thoughts? Its original from 2004.

There is a city here that was built as a retirement community around the early 50s. All the houses have those. I was really curious when I noticed them.

You just need a solid front bumper to teach them a lesson. Or get a cow pusher on there.

This is how they fail and the purpose of the pan. Replace it. You got a good service life, more than 15 years. Hard water eats it from the inside. I’m on my 2nd since buying in 2009 and also replaced in my rental. Better to swap it while it still works than be stuck without hot water on a cold day.

You can [somewhat legally] drive an unrepaired crashed vehicle here.
    It would teach them nothing.

I pushed a guy through an intersection for brake-checking me a few years ago.
3 lights in a row, he didn't go on green. I had to honk each time.
The 3rd or 4th light, I laid on the horn because I was out of patience.
He got out into the middle of the intersection and locked it all the way up.
He got out of his car after I cleared the intersection thinking he was going to be tough. I was way more angry (and much much larger) than he was and I told him to get TF back in his car. He did.
I called the cops and reported the incident. Dispatch asked if anyone was hurt. I said no. They asked if anyone was armed. I said, "I sure the fuck am. But I'll leave it in the glovebox as long as that dumb motherfucker stays in his car. If he gets out again, I make no promises."
Unusually fast response time from IMPD that day...

    TLDR:
It won't teach these fucking hillbillies anything. It'll just drive up my insurance.

Seriously considering adding something like this.

To preheat the water. Hell, probably bypass the WH in the summer altogether. Just get in the habit of doing laundry and dishes in the middle of the day, and shower before dark.

Our gas is up $.40/gal over the last two weeks. +$.20 before SOTU, and another $.20 after. Likely a coincidence, just a reference in time.

I do all my GFCI's isolated except for the daisy chain in the kitchen. I don't want to hunting for which one to reset if one pops and I feel that truth in advertising requires me to show a GFCI protected outlet as such and I hate the sticker approach. It's only money, right? What's another $20 :p

I like the LED too, lets me know power is on.

I get the dilemma. Definitely never sell the 911. It's not like an AC is impossible to replace so you have a bit more breathing room than I did with my RC. And maybe less sentimental attachment if you didn't buy it new and put some miles in it during your youth.

But you have to at least recognize that a super reliable v8 is getting increasingly rare, so you may not have an easy path back to one in the future. If you can figure out a long term parking situation and you're not tight on cash, you could stash it away somewhere and just drive it once in a blue moon while you decide your long term plan. Might be a fun time to lease something. Have you maybe considered getting in line for an F150 lightening? At that price point it seems like a crazy good deal to me.

Early 90’s lightning is best lightning. 408 and a tremec could be had, swapped, and tuned for cheap. And it would make more sense when you wanted to swap in a long travel TTB.

my last trip to comfort, i spied with my little eyes, a crew cab late 70’s chevy longbed on jackstands. I want it. Thats the longbed for me. I dont care if its got an engine or axles or not. When i take my slotcars to the track i might clip a note to their gate.

i wont get rid of the tundra, grandpa is my step grandpa, and when his real grandson is in his mid 20’s i might pass it on to him. So 8-10 years away.

I'd need a properly ludicrous offer to sell the 911. That's been a serious journey to get it where I'm at.
I reckon, and my wife will back me up, that I'm just not a truck guy. I can do a small SUV (my 3rd gen t4r for example), but my heart is in medium-to-small sized cars. I think the best path forward is a downsize from truck to car and pick up a decently clean t4r for 'truck' duties and deep snow. (lol at deep snow in central IN)

If I somehow just can't live without a truck. I'd look at a late model f150. It'd be more cash up front, but the 3.5tt & 10spd combo is unmatched for towing in a 1/2 ton platform. AND it gets better fuel economy than the 1GT.
The thing is that I really don't even tow. I've had a trailer hooked to the 1GT 3-4 times in the two years I've had it...maybe. I know of twice. I'm leaving room for an event I'm not recalling.

Build a 5.0/10 speed/4x4 single cab short bed on the ford website. I think it was 31-32k with zero options. I mean, sport truck, right?

i remember those days. They’re building a chevron next to the valero, but thats 10 miles away, and they tax beer hard. Walmarts are 20 miles away, but they dont have the card discount anymore. The one to the left, keeps fresh gas. Lots of high test gets sold there. The one to the right has ethanol free 87, so ive gotta fill my can there once a month.

dont forget those are 70mph 20-40mile round trips.

That's pretty far from the truth. Tundras, Tacomas and 4Runners have previously never shared the same platform. They all feel and drive differently. Keep in mind 4Runners have always been built in Japan with better feeling materials, higher grade plastics and have a more luxurious feel than Tundras and Tacomas. You step into a 3rd gen 4R and the quality is much higher than a Tacoma or Tundra of that same generation. Same goes for a 4th gen 4Runner vs 2nd gen Tacom and 2.5 gen Tundra. 5th gen 4R feels better than a 3rd gen Taco and 2.5 gen Tundra. Typically 4R's have more luxury features, better seats and seating position and more advanced 4wd systems as well. It's not until now with TNGA-F that they are sharing the platform and you can see the direction they're heading with the 2022 Tundra and 2023 Sequoia in sharing materials and looks. My current DD is a 2013 Land Cruiser have owned 2 previous 5th gen 4Runners. I would absolutely rather have the LC over a 2.5 gen Tundra (and even over the 3rd gen Tundra) and a 5th gen 4R over a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma. But then again I'm an SUV guy over a truck guy. I see the truck as more utilitarian but as far as daily driving and actual driving experience I prefer SUV's. It's best if you can have both though.
