I didnt like the blowback 9mm ar, the locked 9mm sbr my buddy has is way mo’ betta. Its also crazy fancy, and maybe thats why it was so nice.

id like to play with a mp5?7? And a kriss vector, but more likely a chainsaw handle dp12.

or a taurus circuit judge and learn to load my own. .45 colt and .410 could get rowdy.

Best I can figure is 1975 for date of manufacture. Not a rem-lin.

Anyways, I think that'd be a crime against humanity to do any of the sort beside Maybe a bigger scope mount that's still pass through. The front part of the scope opens up and blocks part of the passage way for the irons. That's the only thing I can see doing with it.

So did some trouble shooting. I had some noise in the front end I didn't like. @des2mtn knows what I'm talking about. Like anything, trace back to what you did last. Last is tough, because I'm always changing things. Recently; tie rods, oil skid, cranked the coilovers, added forward aftermarket bump stops, and because of @Darkness, also considered the sway bar. I don't believe I F-ed up the lower control arm or the tie-rods. So I pulled the sway bar, the oil skid and the front bumps. I also lubed the UCA bushings and the ball joints. Everything was perfect and with no sway bar, suspension was looser.

Added the sway bar back into the mix, but greased the shit out of the MaxTrax extended links. Almost the same, maybe an occasional click but really nothing.

Added the oil pan skid - but this time ran bushings where the plates overlap. Maybe a bit more noise. Maybe frame flex. But, It's almost nothing as well.

This might be an occasion where some grease and some polyurethane make the difference. But, the reason some disconnect the sway bar for off road is clear.

 

Interesting. Is disconnecting involved?

 

I took out the link and just tied up the sway bar. I would have pulled it, but that would have required pulling the trans skid plate as well.

 

I could see how the SuspensionMaxx links might make noise clanking against those cupped washers because of the sleeve. Hopefully the noise doesn't persist.

In regard to bumpstops since I know you posted about those recently, I'm happy with mine right now, but if I were to mess with them again it would be trimming them down instead of going back to the hard ass stock ones.

 

I thought about that. I should clarify, I have two sets of DuroBumps. I've been running a set in the rear of the lower arm. I recently put a sent in front of the lower arm. 4 total. The fronts engage first, I think it was too much bump over all. With the fronts pulled and no stops there, things smoothed out, so I put the front stock bumps back in.

 

I will report back on my experience with the maxx links once I get my truck back.

 

What sort of noise? I too have a noise I don't love. It's metal rattling sound when I go over bumps. I can only hear it with the windows down. When I'm under the truck whacking stuff with my dead blow I get the same noise when I whack my aftermarket oil pan skid plate. I think the skid plate is rattling against that front crossmember. Assuming you too, have skid row armor?

 

Finally an excuse to post some gun stuff. the only good gun is an AR that's rattlecanned and beaten regularly.

Interesting. My four are Timbrens so they might be a bit different material/ construction. I'm fairly happy with my front end right now and I've like the Timbrens. I've been sway bar-less since T2S . Really not sure I'm adding much value or anything by sharing any of this. I have to really be taking on big whoops for the bump stop to compress to where the metal part engages the LCA. The metal part on the bump looks to be close in height to the OEM bump.

Yes, Skid Row. No transfer case plate, I don't have a transfer case. Front skid, oil pan skid, and transmission skid. 2 places where they overlap.
I was hearing noises more affected by turns and some bumps. Not a rattle, more like a bind noise, or bind/release. I first thought it was steering, but I was pretty sure with new OEM parts and good install, that wasn't it. I had the alignment shop check everything front end and they said it was tight. Maybe lower control arms? But they are new (moog). So I started with what I thought was most likely and also not obvious. And easier to pull. All I can say is the noise left when I greased and torqued the UCAs, lost the sway bar and pulled the middle skid plate. Greasing the sway links and putting bushings (polyurethane) between the skid plate overlap seems to have taken care of the issue. I have to drive it more.

 

I think that adds a lot to consider. There is nothing About Kings that says to modify the bumps that I have seen. Now that I see what you have, I'll compress my spare durobumps in a vice and compare to stock bump height. I think mine are way better than hard stocks, they may also limit more than needed. I haven't hit the rear hard enough to max out, but those are different bumps, and although they engage, they never feel like it. I have to look at the shine on the frame to know.

 

Hold the phone, some of the frame sounding noise came back. I's sure it's frame flex. And I'm sure it's the oil skid plate. But, I need to pull it again to rule it out.

 

Now I’m regretting those boxes of skids in my garage. Hah.
