It could be that but there are also some jobs where people aren't utilized. I had a job like that for 3 years. Most days, I only had enough work for maybe 1-2 hours out of an 8 hour day. No joke, the rest of my time was spent here on Tundras.com or elsehwere. For the first 8-12 months I actually asked my boss for projects or more work and it never came. I would invent things to work on some days because I was so bored. The odd thing was that my boss always told me I was doing a great job. I guess he just didn't realize or didn't care that I wasn't that busy.

In my new job I'm busy AF and my computer times out after 10 minutes so I would love to have one of those mouse movers. I hate having to log back in after taking a poop.

When I was a kid we used to say "I'm gonna dig my way to China" while we were digging holes in the school yard (usually in the sandbox).

I wonder if kids in China ever say "I'm gonna dig my way to America"

Trick I normally share with folks is to us a meaningful phrase, statement, or song lyric with 123 in it.
I live at 123 Main Street and my neighbor is a crackhead
I like having sex with 123 dead hookers every day
Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down 123

The combination of spaces, 1st capital and 123 will usually meet password requirements. From there, just increment the number up each time.

That's called you have a shitty IT department. It's super easy to setup automated scripts that mail your users when their password is close to expiration. 1st one I setup back in 2003 emailed at 14 days out, 10 days out, 5 days, 4, 3, 2, and then 1 days away. You might say it's passive aggressive on my part, but my reality was, the only way you're gonna annoy me with your stupid ass password request is if you put up with me annoying you at least 6 times. I also had access to check people's inbox rules, and could disable when they filtered the emails.

In my world you get baggy-pants'd if you do that. Then CorpSec stepped in and made it a fire-able offense to use anyone else's computer without consent :censored:

I had some asshole in one of these pass me on the interstate while heading to HF to get my new floor jack, but it was a weird greyish bluish greenish color. Guy drove like a freaking asshole, for real. Got all up in my ass when I had nowhere to go, then got up in everyone else's ass once he got past me. Definitely wasn't part of Team Tundra cus he had no care for mine, the originator. Wasn't driving like he's in TRUCK GANG! or anything either.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear the new style is going to bring in a whole new breed of assholes into the Tundra fam.

If I weren't so f'n lazy after the shit day I've had, I'd go pull the SD card from my dashcam and get a pic. Was brand new, temp tag, so I could do it w/o shaming anyone. Dude was a real dickhole though.

Traded my Harmon kardon receiver today to the guy that gave it to me 2 years ago.

He proceeded to give me this whole stack for the Harmon Cardon amp and CD player
    [IMG]
much better sound. This wouldn’t run his BOSE 901 speakers. The Harmon would. This Yamaha compliments my Polk LSI-9 speakers much better

Noice. I almost went with the marantz version of my denon. But internally it was almost identical. And the $500 increase in price was off putting for me.

the desktop setup stays 2 channel. No need for surround on it. I’ll get in trouble.

Yeah, I'd like the HK for my home office setup but not only am I not allowed to make noise, I don't even have a spot where I can place it that isn't already heavily used.

Also, this is the singer alternator charging harness. Not going to get a thumbs up from me. Good marketing though. Labels are mine.

My first position at the Lottery was as the 'night draw specialist'. I worked between 6 and 10 hours at a time depending on the night and generally didn't do more than 40 minutes of actual work.
In three years at that job, I read more books than in all of my education, finished enough crosswords to heat a house for the winter, and did more pro bono tech support for the security office next door than anyone ever should.
I really liked the job, but when it became time to change day-jobs, I went full time at the Lottery and they wouldn't allow me to do both. Best part-time job ever. I got paid way too much for how much work I did. If it were closer to home, I'd go back a few nights a week just for the money.

I have an older Denon 5.1 receiver in the garage powering two speakers older than I am (10" woofers & 2" tweeters) and a 2021 Marantz 2.1 powering two Polk RT800 towers in the living room. The Marantz is a little underpowered for the Polks, but it's clean. I reckon once the 911 is much closer to done, I'll upgrade the living room setup and move the Marantz to the garage...or I'll move it to the basement and have three systems in the house.

I actually have a really nice Technics receiver (wood cabinet, brushed aluminum face) in the basement for the living room, but it's in need of refurbishment after nearly 50 years of service. The input selector rotary switch is finicky at best. I've been having a hard time finding someone to work on it and that was the impetus to buy the Marantz last year. That Technics is the most absurdly powerful solid state amp I've ever come across.

I made a purchase on Amazon a few days ago and then I get an email saying "welcome to Amazon Prime". Those bastards have been trying to trick me into joining Prime for years and I normally click the right button at checkout to avoid it. Somehow they got me this time. Joke is on them though because I got 30 days free and immediately cancelled it.

Nice thick wood ones, if you know any deck builders they might have some spare cuts that would work. Taking care of them is key so they don't split, don't drop 'em hard on the ground. I haven't used jack stands since auto shop in high school.

I use a Yamaha R-S500 pared with old Technics towers, Klipsch bookshelves, and a 12" Klipsch sub with my computer. Yamaha stuff is nicely made.

What in the actual hell am I looking at? My tween-aged daughter could solder up a more competent solution than that. And how hackish must you be to re-use a damn connector rather than pin your own? FFS man.

Any of you guys dabble in vintage at all? When I have time, I refurb vintage turntables, tuners, guitar amps, etc. I've got a couple of old heads I keep in the shop, one is a Lafayette LR-5555 that stomps on the Marantz 2245 I sold a year or two after buying it. I still need to clean out the Lafayette, there's some weirdness with the power board I need to figure out. I found an MCS 3222 head not long ago, near mint, "no power on", got it for $10. Fuse was blown.

Current shop setup is two pairs of Bose 301 (s-IV, I think) with a Monoprice 200w powered 8" sub that punches way above its price range. Head is a Sony STR-DN1070 I initially won on an auction site dirt cheap ($101!) because it offered up bluetooth integration with decent power, but it's turned out to be a great head, accepts input from my (technics-made MCS 6601) turntable's preamp, can play most everything I want between it and bluetooth. I originally wanted a dedicated amp, but the Sony head is more than competent to drive all the stuff. I was really surprised by how worthwhile it's been.

Oh @chrisb is the rotary switch on that technics something you can get easy access to the backside of? Have you tried hitting it with some DeOxit D5 from the back, and rotating the knob to clean and lube the contacts?

I refurbed an old Technics SL-B300 and that's what spins my vinyls. Pretty much needed a belt and needle and it was like new.
