My original plan was keep my 2013 Prius and add a 1985 RCLB mt Toyota pickup. Or first gen rc mt. Looked at a few 2nd gens including an auto 2014 RC base with 300 miles and couldn’t do it, 2nd Gen just looks wrong to me. Wound up with DCSB 2016 Taco which I love. Tundra for me is purely a project vehicle, a fun thing to tinker with. It’s vastly superior for real truck stuff which is nice but at the same time I cannot possibly justify it based on actual use. I think it mostly serves as an outlet for my habit so I can leave my Tacoma alone. Though I do still have quite a few Tacoma projects to finish.

I understand why you guys like your steering wheel controls. I have a knob volume on the receiver because I don't like buttons for that...It's also touch screen. So, I'm pretty used to reaching that way. Where you lose me is changing the steering wheel to get controls. All I would have to do is change the adapter. I still don't...

I would love to have a knob. And to be honest, my 4660 is noticeably slower than my 6600 which I find annoying. But wireless CarPlay is truly fantastic. And OEM head units just don’t do it for me at all.

I’d also really like it if I could get power lock control of the shell like I have on my Tacoma. I love that. I don’t think it’s an option with the T handles right now but I hope someday. I did break down and order the power lock kit for the tailgate itself.

I split the difference both times I changed it. First was a cool Kenwood before touchscreen and all that. I wanted hands free phone. The first adapter was steering wheel controls and it didn't work. Sent it back for the basic one and realized that was fine. When I got the boy a receiver for his truck, he wanted knob volume. It had apple car play as well, which worked better than any I had used OEM or not. So when I wanted back up cam, I just got what I got him, basic Sony that doesn't do a ton but does what it does very well. I don't even know if it works wireless with car play or not. I left the same adapter in there and still don't miss steering wheel control. I guess if I had a wireless charger, I would know if the car play was wireless. That combo would be very nice.

Yeah, hopefully the new charging pad for the Tacoma is legit. The Qi one is a joke. We shall soon see.

Ironically, for now, I’m plugged in to power with a 2M cable. So the joke is definitely on me. Perhaps I might consider a different head unit. That could well be the more cost effective option.

I keep looking at Coastal front bumper on my truck, Brute force pics. Fairly similar design, but coastal is more extreme. I may hybrid my Coastal a bit to protect, get rid of the need to eliminate body/sheet metal that is below the Coastal bumper...

Did some aiming this morning. Hard to really see the other side for a reference but I adjusted up a bit. Not sure if there is any left - right adjustment on these OEM units. Definitely brighter with the fancier bulb and harness.

One surprise for me was that my DRL’s fire the low beams rather than high beams. I thought they would run the highs. So stock side you can tell a difference with low beams vs parking light as it’s perhaps 9V vs 12? But with the relay side there is no difference, low beam is always on.

Did someone say one of these connectors might be the DRL and could be unplugged?

Thanks, I’ll give that a shot.

Planning the DRL signal to VLED switchbacks in the corner spots. So that will be great if I can kill two birds with one stone on that. I’ll try to find these specific connectors for my own T harness and for others to have waterproof caps.

Bicycle help - because I know we have bicycle snobs on here ;-)
I was given my 1st mtn bike, nothing fancy but I don't need fancy.
I do need air in the front tire however & came across something new & unfamiliar technology to me. There is no valve stem?
It looks like it pulled out & the stem could be replaced? I only know of valve stem is part of the inner tube.
What black magic is this & what do I need to know when I shop online (any preferred sites?) or go to local bicycle store?

@Tundra2 If I've got my dates right, tomorrow is day 1 of the new job.
Good luck for a smooth transition. You've got the necessary, sounds like they're a good bunch of humans. Life is far better working for/with humans.
Here's to a great new chapter in your life journey!

Can’t see too well but many mountain bikes are tubeless nowadays. That photo looks like a tube to me though. Tubeless MTB is just like a car only typically sealant is used to handle punctures.

I mail order everything, even cables and housing. Bike shops are totally OOS and many have weeks of backlog on work. It’s nuts. For most stuff, eBay is a good option. Just make sure you know your wheel size. It’s printed on the tires.

That just looks like a bad tube where someone tore the stem off.

Unless you have bought a rather expensive bike from the last ~5 years or so, tube tech hasn’t really changed. Bikes now are running tubeless just like vehicles.

Was at Lowe's this morning. I was meeting someone that wanted to buy my Wildpeak M/Ts I had for sale. Glad I got those sold. Ended the three tire swap over 3 weeks. Didn't lose too much money in the process and learned some things.

The broken stove and sign made me laugh way harder than it should have.

Installed the CupFone as well that I picked up Friday. A lot better than just putting the phone it in the cup holder. Added another Knipex tool to my collection (the 8" needle nose).

yes, it's a tube I pulled out of the tire. So maybe I just need a new tube - a simple/odd stem failure. It's nothing fancy, a Raleigh.

Im a little surprised the road bike crew who shave their body for aero havent gone to tubes you fill with a basketball needle.

The rim determines if you can run tubeless. You can always stuff in tubes. I always replace any Schrader with presto. Just confirm diameter and tire width. Printed on the sidewall.

For weight? 120+ psi really needs a screw valve to seal. Tubular tires have been around for a long time though. They are very nice to ride on.

Ok so this seems to be effective at killing the DRL but also may disable my parking lights? Either that or I blew a fuse.

Sonofabitch lights! I didn't blow any fuses yet. Just can't get the back up cam to display in reverse, unless I tell the HU to look at the cam. Faaaak. Reverse is the power and the switch you stupid HU.

    But FU parking lights.

Figured it out. Depo bulbs shorting power to ground on my parking light circuit. Swapped to OG front bulbs. Snapped a tab on the depo corners and blew two fuses figuring it out.
