getting ready to upgrade lighting in two honda vehicles doing the H11 to H9 and the 9005 to 9011 hir. unsure how the upgrade will go on the factory projectors? on the one but the other honda has not projctors and should go well having already done one in the past. makes a huge difference.

I run this in our 2018 Odyssey. If you have questions, hit me. The H9’s don’t impress me but the Toshiba HIR are amazing. Crashnburn80 tested the LED headlights for me and found they were significantly worse with high beam compared to the 9011 HIR. I believe the recent korean made Sylvania 9011’s are even better than the Toshibas.

My wife’s sienna has the 9005 for the highs and H11 for lows I believe. I can do the same and it’d be better output?

Yes. High beam in particular is truly phenomenal. Sourcing the Korean made 9011’s is a challenge but I can point you toward my eBay guy for Toshibas. They are not cheap but he is trustworthy and they last a good time because they are high beams.

The H9 lows are just meh. If I could get 4Runner style led low plus 9011 high it would be the best of all breeds. Almost makes me want to buy a 4Runner.

Yes, please show me the way. The wife complains about her lighting but I think it’s fine. Maybe this would help her out.
What’s so special about the 4Runner LED lows?

Forgive my lack of knowledge here but I’m not very bright when it comes to lighting

the one h11 to h9 (low beam) conversion i did was significant. just trim a tab(s) off the the new bulb to fit.

    h11= 1350 lumens at 55 watts

h9= 2100 lumens at 65 watts (yes 10 watts higher but no worries on burnings the house down)

i’ll be using philips bulbs on amazom

the hir bulb (high beams) is same wattage but the special coating disburses more light with same watts.

Anyone that ordered gears get a shipping notification yet? I'm wondering how long they're going to take to ship out. I believe my Dirty Deeds exhaust and headers are shipping in the next week or so.

@CodyP the 4Runner (as far as I'm aware) has two options for headlights. Either a full LED (high and low) and hybrid (LED low, halogen high). Crashnburn80 has tested the hybrid ones recently and they were a thumbs up if I'm remembering.

The 9011 HIR options are Toshiba or new Korean made Sylvania. Note the Sylvanias not made in Korea are not the same, lots of chatter about how hard it was to find the Korean ones. Both require tab modification which I do with a dremel for the hard plastic but a sharp box cutter should work as well.

I get my Philips H9's from rock auto b/c $6/ea is a good price, Amazon is pretty similar. I usually do metal tab trimming of h9's with flush cutters but it is possible to insert an h9 bulb into an h11 socket with the right technique without trimming the metal tab, it's just a little harder because the tab is wider. It helps to practice on the bench.

I sell female H9 connectors which can be used to replace H11 (I've done this) and on many you can just swap the center plastic if it fits snug or leave it out entirely (aka free mod) to avoid having to modify the bulb base. This works for the Tacoma and Odyssey style H11 connectors but may not work for others, particularly unsealed varieties which don't employ the center green (H11) and yellow (H9) center plastic piece.

    Odyssey specific testing

Just FYI, you can take a screwdriver, bash it into the fuel door lock and turn it. Just in case anyone needed to know.

Completely unrelated, who sells fuel door locks?

Mine flops back and forth and is getting on my nerves.

I had to on Tuesday. I was below the line and the locksmith that said he'd get the tool to do it never got back to me.

Works for ignition cylinders too, but don't be suprised when the damage causes the steering wheel lock to engage unexpectedly while driving..

its laird. the f350 forum might be where i start back to after seeing the new tundra thurd gen pic and i cant seem to find an early gen 00-02 without someone butchering the suspensions up or a ton of rust. these nuts want $16k plus for a 20 year truck hahahahaa.

i might just get a ceramic coating on my ‘19 and keep it until the cam towers blow. maybe do a stubby antennae that doesn’t work to. those seem hot around here.

I ordered Nitro Gears 4.56 gears front and rear and an Eaton e-locker on the 22nd of November and got confirmation email. Just no idea when it will ship yet. I'm just hoping to have em all installed before the Lone Star Toyota Jamboree in April
