My plan would be to take off 3 weeks of vacation, start the new job right away and decide at the end of the week if I liked it. If I didn't, I'd just return to my original job and cut the vacation short. If I liked it, I've give notice while on vacation. :D

Give current employer 1 week. Then take your 1 week. Then go to new job. Problem solved.

If current employer complains, "Sorry - I can't afford to miss this opportunity, and I'm giving what I can." And say no more.

I gave my last employer a 2 day notice. I never understood the two week notice thing. Employers don't have to give 2 week notice before they lay people off. My last company took 6 months to backfill positions so 2 weeks is pointless.

A lot of folks around here give their 2 weeks and then get escorted to HR and then to the parking lot.

Yup, basically this, that one double-standard is a key point being stressed within the "anti-work" crowd right now. Which, for the record, I have no problem with. Only thing I dislike more than double standards are abusers, liars, cheats, and thieves. :D

Like I said earlier, if there's no reason you need to hang around and your finances are OK waiting for your 1st paycheck at the new gig to hit, take care of yourself. If not, the 1wk for old job and 1 week for you is generous enough. And if you never think someone would need to call for a reference or think they would give you a poor reference, 1 day for them and 13 days for you sounds great.

Because of the work I do and who my employer is, if I notified them I'm leaving, I'd likely be allowed to put my stuff in a box and say bye to everyone before being escorted out of the building for security reasons. If we were on good terms, they'd probably give me 2 weeks PTO to fill out those 2 weeks or find another way to compensate me.

Edit: I think everyone needs to have their own strategy at the end of the day. Mine is simple: Assess the need. I know I personally hold a lot of info and process in my head nobody knows. That's going to leave my employer pretty well screwed if I go. Cross-training somehow is mandatory, but they'd want to control that access, making me do it remotely. I don't know what y'alls jobs are like, or if it's the same. But it's a departure on good terms, I'd judge how much cross-train needs to be done, how much it'd negatively impact if I didn't finish out my scheduled week, and go from there. I think finishing out the week if next week's schedule isn't made is plenty ample. And if next week's schedule is made up ... 72 hours is plenty of time for them to shuffle.

I'd like to to go on vacation for a week and try out a new job, then come back the following week, find something mundane to get bent out of shape over then walk out saying I quit at the old job. :D

ethics work both ways so if your company has been good to you and your family then 2 weeks notice and see what they say. take the 2 weeks off if they can you hopefully not and work on tunny. being a biz owner i’ve seen it all and good employees always give a 2 week notice. bad ones either fire themselves or start talking smack about going and getting another job in which then the get the boot if they were slackers. same thing with clients in which i’ve fired when they send off the yellow flags. bad clients are worse than bad employees. punk rock.

Funny you mention. Believe it or not, we have that happen regularly, depending on which site you're dealing with.

We have one site that's notorious, at one point 10-15% of new hires would either sign the offer and no-show, show to work a week and never be seen again, or show up a week late and work a week, go out sick for a week or two, and it was 25/75 whether they actually came back.

When I asked about it, hiring manager told me the job market is so hot there, people will line up 2-3 jobs back to back while continuing to work their current job. They'll start at 1 new job, work a week, see if they like it. If not, they'll go to jobs 2 and/or 3 in the following weeks. If none are appealing, they return to the original job "all healthy again".

We have a bunch of guys over 60 who could walk out at the drop of a hat when things get bad for them since they qualify for early retirement. A good friend of mine and coworker doesn't want to retire because he doesn't want to deal with the drama of the wife and kid who won't move out.

I was poking around the junkyard and decided to grab a couple of those diode fuses from both Ford and GM vehicles. The ones that anyone with an AGM battery should look into.

Left is GM, right is Ford.
    PhotoGrid_1638340437496.jpg

    PhotoGrid_1638340500454.jpg

Both styles look like the 'tab' may just need to be cut/ground/sanded off to fit them.

I have a bunch of them. If anyone wants one or two PM me.

Pretty sure that mount itself is either bent twisted, or was welded on crooked to begin with. But yeah that stack of washers is classic

I just ordered a pack of 4 Ford ones. The GM one for whatever reason would t work in my truck. Worked in the Avalon though. I think there’s 2 different styles floating around. One mini fuse and one micro fuse

Is there any price difference between right and left handed, otherwise identical? Seems likely as they’re more difficult to find but I’ve never paid any attention to a lefty in a store, IF I even ever saw one. Idk

They use the same ones. If you zoom in the upper picture shows the printed part #. One is GM the other is Ford, otherwise identical.

The bottom has the same numbers but also pulled from both mfg. Just different tab placement. Center instead of offset to the side.

I ordered two of the GM ones. For those that are looking to do this, I had to trim them with side cutters to fit in the fuse location. Here is my spare, which still works. Be careful, because the side wings have electronics in them.

The price is the same but you can generally get the right handed models on sale. The left handed models you generally don't get on sale since they're a special order.

There is a left handed guitar store out of Houston...https://www.southpawguitars.com/

    I haven't tried them yet.

I’m a lefty that plays righty guitar.

if I play drums I have to flip the kit though. I don’t play drums very often anymore.
