Did I mention I have a damn near complete TRD lift kit for a 3rd gen taco. All I’m missing is the radar sensor for the pre collision. Still not sure what to ask $$ wise for the kit.

    Since @Tundra2 brought up plumbing....

To all the plumbers (or anyone with experience with it) on here - What's CIPP pipe relining?
    Pipe Relining | Nuflow

My 1912 sewer line has had issues which seem to be resolved at the moment. Saw this CIPP relining which claims to stop tree roots & I wondered.
Is this for real, any good, cheaper than excavation & re-piping & repaving?
Can you run it out so far & then just stop? I'd be happy to run it to the property line & stop at the street. Don't know if it needs pipe edge to grab or not.

Anyone with any experience with this class of product?

...because less plumbing expenses = more truck money!

Where are the roots that are causing issues? First take care of those, if it’s in the open I wouldn’t use the liner, if it isn’t in the open, I still wouldn’t use the liner. But at the end of the day you gotta do what you gotta do. @Darkness might have a better viewpoint, not sure if they were using that when he was hurdling turds.
From what my guys at work say, is it’s sorta a sales gimmick, that machine is usually on lease basically, so they push as many “repipes” as they can. I think you still have to rip up concrete because you have to redo connections at say the toilet flange or things like that.

I didn't think the 3rd gen tacomas came in a regular cab. I thought it was just an Access Cab style and double cab style (using first gen Tundra lingo)

Reminds me of when USN sent us to Dallas/Ft Worth area. We'd hit the flea market in Grand Prarie sometimes. Some of the toys they were pumping out of Mexico to sell there were nuts. I distinctly remember the Transformers toys. It was almost a warning of what we'd be seeing out of China in 20 years. Bizarre.

Looks like (per Wikipedia) RC was pretty sparse on trim levels as well.

What exactly is wrong with your pipe? What kind of pipe is it? Clay hopefully, not that compressed paper crap.

I've done a dozens of liner jobs. Here is the basic rundown.

You do have to do some digging. At minimum a 4x4' wide square right outside your house where the sewer leaves your house and heads to the city line. First they'll install a clean out, then they'll use that and a hydro-jetter with a spinning bit to cut out any roots and get the line as clear as possible. Any roots in the line or any heavy pipe offsets can be disastrous for the liner. Liners are not intended to take turns either, but risky guys will shoot through them. Any connections from the cleanout to the street need to be spotted and dug up (if there are any). This part would be handled by a plumber, hopefully not a lazy one because prep, jetting, and careful camera use are important.

Next a big box truck will show up. If it has the same logo as the plumbers truck, thats impressive. If it has no logo, it's contracted work. Two guys in the big truck will measure the footage, cut the cloth tube, set up the balloon, and mix the resin. They soak the cloth in resin and squeeze it. They shoot the cloth in with the balloon in it and it gets inflated. Sometimes they stick around, other times they tell the plumber to watch the balloon pressure for a few hours. Then they pull the balloon out and reconnect the pipe and put your dirt back.

If nothing went wrong, you now have a fairly thin pipe that was molded and cured inside of your existing pipe.

How strong is the material? Pretty strong. It's like a strong fiber glass.

How long does it last? I couldn't say.

How much does it cost? In CA around 2009 I was charging around $7k for a 60 foot run and be done in one day. More expensive than getting a few laborers and digging it up by hand, or renting a backhoe. It doesn't disturb your yard and it can be done under driveways and such, so sometimes its a smarter move. This can only be done outside of your house, they can't shoot it uphill under your foundation.

So, bottom line, if you can deal with a dig, always dig?

That's what I did for water input a couple of Christmas' ago, hired help for the trenching, plumber owned the gluing though it was freaking schedule 40 and I could have easily done most it aside from the copper part where I don't trust myself enough.

The f'er was smoking butts and dumping them in the trench, I'd pick them out in front of him just to let him know what I thought of that behavior.

The house sewer has a clean out / p-trap / clean out & under foundation, down hill under driveway to street.
I guess that whole house trap to prevent city sewer gas from blowing up my house is kinda special these days.
Digging outside the foundation would mean tearing up the porch or tearing up the driveway.
But if all the machinery is fixed in the truck, .... probably not an option, maybe 40' from basement entry to pipe entry.

guess i can just keep flushing root kill & biannual $200 root cuttings.

If you can get a guy to drop a camera in the line and show you where the trouble is, if its just one spot then a repair of that section might be better. I would only recommend a liner of there are multiple damaged sections.

Hitting it with a cable every year or two is a good idea but you need a guy who knows how to run a cable. Most "drain techs" I know can only clean a pipe thats holding water. They know they're hitting the right spot when the water clears. Its harder to tell, but completely possible, if you're hitting roots when the pipe is empty.

I wouldn't bother with root pellets. They don't stay where they need to be. Money down the drain.

And it's not mandatory to follow the original line, right? If clear trench from point a to b is possible then a new line might not be the dumbest move? That's what we did with water in, granted that's smaller and less trouble with gravity due to pressure.

well I finally have katzkin leathers coming with heated fronts. If I'm correct, we have the wiring for the heated seats already right? I wanted to find some OEM heated seat toggles and put them in the normal spot. Anyone know if the wiring comes right to the console from the seats for these? I obviously haven't looked yet.

    No but you never know.

I try to avoid buying parts off cars like this to avoid the bad juju potential attached to said parts

Same. It’s like buying a house that someone was murdered or committed suicide in.
