So here's what I'd say so far.

Buying experience was easy, paid cash, it's a 4-banger FWD hybrid Limited. JBL 11spk system is a definitely a bump above what was in our 2012 Limited. Seats waaaaay more comfortable.

Wife insisted on driving it home while I drove home the 2012, which we sold to our friends next door for a stupid price. Bonus, it had 69,690 miles on it. We got it home, she asked me to clean the windshield because Carmax's detail crew did a shit job. Realized there was two small impacts in the lower passenger side corners that were starting to spider. Then, while looking at that, I noticed something else in the 6" black strip at the bottom of the windshield ... another impact mark with a wavy, 8" long crack. It's a TX vehicle, only had 11.5k miles.

Had to drive back up to the dealership to let them check it out. They're being cool and doing an on-site replacement. I had to follow-up on two other things, the sunglass holder in the 2020s is garbage and broken, there's a pin on the passenger side that routes through the gearing so you can fully open to get your sunglasses, then partial-open to use the fish-eye back-seat mirror that's critical if you have kids. The pin won't stay engaged with the gearing on the side of the sunglass bucket. Furthermore, the two rear hinge pins keep breaking free.

It drives totally different than the 2012. Steering wheel is more touchy. More automated systems barking at you for everything - tailgating, lane departure warnings, all kinds of crap. But it's damn comfortable. Definitely some road noise - most obvious seems to be coming from the driver side door, where it meets the A pillar? But it's still easily 50% quieter than the 2012. And the ride is 2x-3x more comfortable over crappy ATL roads, marked improvement. I'm curious if the composite rear door may contribute to some of the added noise, but I'm also curious what you're hearing from customers about road noise?

My only other two complaints, other than the cheap sunglass holder, is how klutzy the center console access is, and how easily the interior gets marked up. The under-dash storage area, with its knitted pleather-esque material, especially in the tan/fawn color on ours, I can see it being impossible to keep clean. I don't even want to think what it's going to look like 5yrs from now. I need to find a way to seal it after I clean it because, again, Carmax's detailers suck ass and apparently only know how to vacuum stuff.

The one outstanding feature, other than built-in remote start, phone preference options, 96mo/100k mile drivetrain warranty, and JBL audio, is the in-console wireless Qi phone charger, with a tray that actually fits my plus-sized iPhone. After driving it one time, I realize this is something I really need inside my truck. Super freaking convenient. The 120v power in the rear is also a really nice add-on.

Qi charger in 3rd gen Tacoma is oft ridiculed. Good size. Does not charge and overheats. It needs the equivalent of an LS swap for power I guess. Maybe someday that might happen.

The wireless charger in my brothers duramax doesn't fit my phone. And its a rough enough ride his phone bounces out of it.

Yeah, it'll barely chirp tires in sport mode. Don't get me wrong, when you switch to sport mode, it can be pretty quick off the line with that elec torque, but it ends too quick, and I doubt you'd get more than a chirp. But then again, main logic behind buying it was having a kid-and-dog-hauler with 30-40mpg, so mission accomplished.

I'm using an iPhone 8S+ which falls into the 'phablet' size category. It probably leaves about 1/4" space at top/bottom, so I see no reason an iPhone 13 Pro Max or Samsung S21 Ultra wouldn't snuggle right in. I'd guess the part cost on this at several hundo, so retrofitting a Qi module probably smarter than buying this OEM unit.

It does look nicely polished and well-constructed. But the fact you can't get into the center console without removing the phone, else you risk catapulting it, is kinda dumb if you ask me. The fact there's no LED light when you go into the console is dumb too. It's super deep, with a skinny top opening. Doesn't make a ton of sense.

I would just have them hold it at the distribution center for pickup. That way you don't have to hang around to get it.

I use an iottie qi charger in my vehicles. Works great, no size issues lol. Wire is tucked into the radio bezel area, I made a relief for it using a round precision file.

That one's a classic! Had a little nostalgia when I saw it.

Yeah, I'd probably do that if I ran Uber, otherwise it's a little bulky looking for me.

I looked into the charging pad for the Honda and still haven’t found it worthwhile because that one needs a wire for CarPlay.

For my Pioneers, with wireless CarPlay, there isn’t any need to see the phone while driving.

Did anyone chime in on this one? I have my passenger rear flap with a solid burn hole in it from the PO, looks a bit ghetto right now.

Meh, try not to feel bad. My truck has been missing the drivers side rear flap since I bought it. Looks pretty ghetto but I can't justify $40 or so for a new one that won't match the other three because they're old and scratched and faded. Just waiting until the right deal comes up for a matching used one.

I could send you my driver side if I replace mine. OEM’s are just pricey? That’s the only drawback?

Hard to see it clearly on my phone but does it say "Toyota" with a horizontal bar or two on it? If so, that is what I have. If you do decide to replace yours I would be more than happy to pay a fair price for it. Lmk. I just don't want to replace all 4 with new or replace the missing one with new because then I would have one new and three old mismatched.
