I don't live in an area densely populated by nope-ropes.
My understanding is they eat destructive vermin like rats, rabbits, mice, small kids, moles, cats, and other undesirable mammals. Do you guys have so many slithery-boiz ranging about the place to justify taking them out? Or is it just a cultural thing? (where people are afraid of snakes, so they just kill on sight)
Seems to me they do more good than harm.

I have a general rule of thumb, I don't kill anything that's (a) not a threat and (b) not food. I've taught my kids the same. If I ever caught them indiscriminantly killing things, there'd be an issue, and they know this.

Still, my paternal family line firmly believes, "if it moves, you can eat it". Mind you, I'm not like my grandpa, who wouldn't hesitate to eat possum, armadillo, nutria or anything else. Possum and nutria are super greasy to me and I can't get past it. But I'll tell you, some of the reptilian things out there people would consider nasty like snake, gator tail steaks, turtle, that shit is awesome from someone who understands how to prepare it.

Grandpa would take us out on his land regularly as single-digit kids and make us clip squirrels out of the tree with his 512. Always had stew that night, and the stew was always good. Didn't put 2 + 2 together until I was much older. The man would literally eat any-damn-thing.

It's true that they eat many rodents and they're good for that (We actually have coyotes for taking care of the cat population. You don't see many cats out here. Ever. Lol). Just have to be careful and diligent where and how you walk (e.g. not barefooted). I've never killed one yet.

I have a friend that is in that mind set, and kills a lot of good helpful snakes. I will try to leave them alone, I’ve never killed one.
Long story, but someone close lived in the desert for 10+ years and would kill them if the rattlers came into the camp, and then call grandpa, he would then use the parts to make jewelry. Now sure if he ever ate any of it or not.

Im surprised ive only found a couple grass snakes out here. My neighbor finds a couple rattlers each year. I’ll catch em for him, and take em across the river to let em go.

Has anyone here ridden Amtrak before? I've got a 30 hour trip to Tampa and back next week for my little sister's wedding I'm not looking forward to in any way.

I'm not sure if I should bring TP, Febreeze and some Simple Green with me to clean up for the person before me.

My current plan is to pick up a Galaxy Chromebook 2 and watch downloaded movies the whole time.

I've not ridden the Amtrak, but I've ridden in numerous planes, the NYC subway, the Chicago El, and the South Shore (electric commuter train from South Bend, IN to Chicago).

I would have a difficult time sleeping on a train unless I had my own cabin/compartment or a traveling companion so we could alternate sleep/watch.

Same with me. The plan is to lock up the chromebook in my suitcase and put a motion alarm on it while I sleep.

I have the Amtrak insurance which supposedly covers it just in case it gets stolen.

not amtrak, but i rode megabus maybe a dozen times between houston and nashville, i never had any problems, even though i had to sleep in bus stops in memphis and dallas. But its not something id recommend to anyone unless they’re packin’ heat.

Does anyone happen to have either JUST the sunglasses holder part of the overhead console? Or the console itself minus the informational computer and shit? I definitely broke the tab on the flip down holder so I’m looking to replace it with something.
Fawn/tan is the color I think.

I've taken Amtrak from Rye NY to Savannah, The auto train 3x. It was long & tedious & I slept in my very comfortable seat, have no memory of the restrooms (so they couldn't have been horrible). I found looking at the world outside the train more interesting than the entertainment I brought.
Of course that was also before masks were required. I can't imagine wearing one 30 hours non-stop.

Unfortunately it's 24 hours from me if I drove... wonder what a flight would be....

I don't even need to think about it right now.

Welcome to being an adult

Remember when you were young and said "when I'm older I'm going to do whatever I want!"

Then you found out doing whatever you want requires money, which requires a job, which is stupid...

Yea, i feel like im running in place, and my shoes and the ground are both wearing out.

then i take a ride, and let the bike do the running, and i realize i havent been in the same place at all. Im just not as far as i thought id be.

so i slow down, enjoy the view, and look for new roads. Just dont look too far. The world is a depressing place. Just look at the good stuff, cause the rest is stupid.

Life is a big game of chutes and ladders. You might not be on a ladder, but as long as you avoid the chutes, you’re doing alright.

the deer was a chute because i had other things id rather spend money on, and a ladder because now the taboo of changing ‘grandpas’ truck has been lifted.

Felt like doing something to help remove the blah.

Installed one of @FirstGenVol's old fog light bulbs into the corolla from the first Knoxville visit.

Added two hooks for tablet viewing in bed. Free hand style. ;)

Most days I feel like I’m on a prison cell. Remember that if you have kids.

No, actually not really in the cell but rather I’m a prison kitchen worker. Constant cleaning, no pay and I can never leave.

It apparently sold. Can you or @Tundra2 tell us what it was, and how much? Just curious.

FTFY. And now it's fixed, the answer is no. I virtually always feel like I'm running in place, and unfortunately, things don't ever stop piling up while doing so. Life.

10 minutes with a pancake compressor and blower nozzle works wonders, broseph.

    This one hits home.
