Now I mounted my hands-free mic at the edge of my cluster trim where I'm talking straight at it, I've reduced the number of wires I need to take up across the headliner.

I've been mulling over my install. Thinking about taking a single run up and terminating at an ACC + IGN + GROUND block above my sunglass/map light unit. This way, if I ever had a rear-facing cam, I can tap to the block. When I want to finish wiring the mirror, tap to the block. Just need to find something low profile that'll work. Would also allow me to take one step at a time, at my own leisure, instead of trying to find 2-3 hours time to knock it all out at once.

I'll probably send up a spare pair with it too, in case I want to retrofit for temp later.

Hey, wait a minute. The shit-rolet has an auto dimming mirror with compass and temp readout.

Will need to investigate compatibility. :pccoffee:

The Intel I have from Bob the mirror guy is that temp + homelink v4 is the unobtainable holy grail. Hence I’m stuck with v3 for now if I want temp.

Homelink is for garage doors? No use currently, but maybe in the future.

I just want auto dimming really. Corolla has a temp reading on the instrument cluster, but it's always been a few degrees off either way. It changes its mind more than some people change underwear.

Uh. Anything is "compatible", you just need about 12" of harness from the donor, plus the concealment plate, and that's about it. All of GM and Honda's stuff uses the same window keystone as others.

Swap yours into the GM now. Maybe you can snake the temp wiring. GM is what some other people used here.

BTW, I just wanted to confirm that the exterior ambient temp sensor for GM was actually a 2-wire setup. A couple of the guys on fleabay like Boost-Parts here in ATL are selling a kit with the GM mirrors and using the GM temp sensors to get the reading, it appears. Looks like the GM p/n is 25775833 if you wanted to look it up. Amazoan has pretty good pics.

I presume all Gentex mirrors would use similar ambient temp sensors, rather than custom-make your mirror for every manufacturer, but I guess you never know.

@daveeasa does your mirror w/temp have a 2-wire sensor? Any intel on the p/n on that sensor?

Still waiting on the invoice. I decided I like Bob of bobs mirrors because he is chock full of knowledge. So I’d rather do as he advises and pay a bit more than make decisions on my own. I’ll let you know once it’s here.

Anyone ever tried the VLEDs H4s in our trucks? Pops said the V6 has a headlight out. Not against another katana set, but they lasted a year, and a day with occasional driving.

V6 has been on standby with maintenance drives since may.

but like any real full size truck, its a bitch in tight parking spots. But has a much tighter turning radius.

Hate to admit it, but that's pretty neat. Now weld both doors together, beef up the front door hinge, and have one Huge super door on each side.

@Sirfive It should be even faster if you just take all the doors off along with the tailgate and just put netting there instead.
