Anybody ever heard of modding a 60/40 bench driver seat into a bucket? I know it was popular on the ranger forums back in the day. My T100 driver seat need new cushion in the ass department and I've yet to remove the seat covers to see if they're damaged. So I figured I'd take em to an automotive upholstery shop if I can find one to repair and modify the driver seat. I doubt the passenger seat needs work. It's cushion is in great shape still. I just haven't seen the fabric yet. While I'm at it I think I'll have them reupholster the door panels as well

I have two Snowpeak titanium sporks. When I worked for the Lottery, I kept one in my desk and one at home. Now they're both at home. I really should put one in the truck.

That's actually a great price too. Hmm.... I'm going to find that recent thread on the subject and link them back to here. Not sure if this would work for anyone with a factory skid plate though?

For clarity, you're wanting to turn your T100 bench into two buckets?

The only issue is the fine print. They only work if you already have their trans skid.

To use our Cat Guards, you will need one of our TA-1002 Transmission Skid Plates to mount them to. They now include mounting holes for the Cat Guards. However, if you’ve already got one of our older Transmission Skid Plates, you’ll need to drill the mounting holes for the Cat Guards. There are three per side and you can use the Cat Guard as a template to locate the holes.

Yes and no. Its a 60/40 spit bench so not a full bench. Basically the passenger seat is already a bucket. So the only conversion is removing the middle section of the bench aka the unwanted 20% of the river seat to make it a bucket. Probably easier on rangers since the folding armrest was also the middle sections back rest, so it was easily removable, leaving just the bottom of the middle section to need modding.

I see now. That sounds like too much effort for my lazy ass haha. There's got to be seats from a different vehicle that are relatively easy to swap in tho.

I did the opposite on my T100 and traded my buckets for bench, the mounting points don't all lineup going from bucket to bench, but I think they did for the guy going from bench to bucket. I'd see if you can find a beat up bucket at a junk yard and have them rebuilt.

There was a guy on Toyota nation who fabbed up a bracket for some really nice seats from some other car.

Not sure how many of you out there like Bose stuff, but if you're a first responder or student, they're offering 30% off any purchase of $199 or more this month supposedly.

I just bought some QC35 gaming headphones for work (no, I'm not gaming at work ) and they were on sale for $50 off. I didn't qualify for the 30% but I'd thought I'd pass that along.

At one point I wanted buckets but I’m also quite happy now with 3 seatbelts.

1st gen tundra swaps in if I change the seat frame rails out. I'm still weighing all my options for now. I may just have the seat fixed and call it good.

I replaced the tstat in my SHO today, to kind of ease myself back into working on shit after the beating I took last year. It really wasn't as bad as I though; only a 1 beer job. Then I took another beer to "bleed" the system and got another 1/2 gallon in. My heater is working again, but the temp seems a tad high. It probably needs a new coolant temp sensor.

Anyways, I took it around the highway a few times and it never over heated. Let it idle about 1/2 an hour and it did fine. Here's some pics for y'all:

    20211015_171605.jpg

    You see it back there?
    20211015_171456.jpg

    How bout now?
    20211015_171452.jpg

    Yeah, I'd say it's bad.

New doesn't have a jiggle thingy,
    20211015_172813.jpg

    But it does now.

All seems well, huh? In typical bmf fashion, I fucked up, bad. My keys (truck ignition, door, and fuel, house, gf house, and shed lock) were digging into me so I set them on the rad support by the battery. I even told myself not to do that, but I did. Now I can't find them. I walked my route out to the highway and drove it twice. Can't find em. I'll take the bike out and ride the shoulder tomorrow to look again. But you know me, I can't work on the simplest thing w/o fucking something up. Yay me!

Trying to order some parts from McGeorge tonight, apparently they are not shipping to WA state right now. Cool Springs is obviously still MIA and I'm not a fan of Sparks due to shipping costs.

Any other parts.toyota dealers you guys using lately?

Looks like just a different vrand so a different make. New one didn't have the jiggle valve.

Pretty sure that missing part is what opens and closes the passage of water into the motor or not. The jiggle valve is not what’s missing. Look again at that pic.

    Yes, and tomorrow night.
I agree that the piece that opens, and closes is missing. I'm saying that they are not identical t-stats. They are made by two different brands. So they are assembled differently. The new one didn't have a jiggle so he drilled a small hole for jiggle activities

Been meaning to ask about coolant temps. What is considered too hot? My truck again didnt like beach driving. After a little while coolant temps were 200-204 and trans temps were around 200.

At what number would you worry about coolant temp?

If I was driving on flat ground I would consider anything below 205 normal if I’m on and off the throttle going through sand lugging down the engine and working it. This summer my temps were 195-205 and I flushed my radiator replaced my thermostat and no change. No I’m down to 180’s town driving in the fall.

On the beach, we’re you in 4hi or 4lo and how fast were you going? Slow and in 4wd puts a ton of heat into the torque converter. If your in low it locks everything up and your temps will drop dramatically, Timmy the tool man does a video on it I believe(4runner is pretty close to our trucks)

No clue. But when I pulled the old one out it dumped coolant out so I'm guessing it didn't break off.
