This is awesome. But what's the best way to account for spacers?

I laughed way too hard at this after a long, shift with nothing to do at work mostly by myself, sitting at a computer.

Subtract the spacer width from the backspace number. 4" bs with 1" spacers is like 3" bs.

I would probably subtract the spacer amount from the B.S. so If a wheel is 4.5bs with a 8.5 wide wheel, an inch spacer will give you 3.5bs and add an inch of poke.

Just gotta say - kinda amazing you can get about 30mpg in high double to triple digit speeds when you're only running 5cyl's (on closed non-public roads of course). :anonymous: Now where do i find @Hooptytrix ?

Unsure if the V6 will start as she completely died when I turned it off. Forgot the battery issue when I pulled into the local HH.

That reminds me, I need to take a pic of the "Dunkin Donut's University" sign when I pass it tomorrow on my way to Habor Freight in Braintree, MA.

I'm not sure what a degree from that University will give you, it's not even enough to qualify as a Barista.

Dunno what's up w/Asheville NC but there's a lot of Gen1 parts for sale over there right now.

Nice looking Access cab shell in what looks like great shape, $500: https://asheville.craigslist.org/pts/d/asheville-tundra-camper-shell/7390329515.html

Custom DECKED-style storage system for access cab, looks well-made, $400: https://asheville.craigslist.org/pts/d/asheville-tundra-bed-storage-kit/7386732753.html

Access cab bed mat, $55: https://asheville.craigslist.org/pts/d/asheville-tundra-bed-mat/7386733202.html

None of this is mine. If the shell was closer, white and about $100 cheaper, it'd be gone already.

nope, did some backroads short cut towards the gulf when got into the state. Didn't used to be an option to my recollection, but there were a bunch of new bridges I crossed, so may be a new route? This time the google didn't lead me astray.

    Dang.
I would very much like to find someone traveling north from the Orlando area to courier some CF fenders for me. I'm trying to avoid the full 2000 mile round-trip to collect them. (it's officially cheaper, and always safer than shipping)

Parts shopping for my old beetle. Air cleaner, spark plugs, throttle cable with guide tubes, clutch cable, fuel hoses, fuel filters, lug bolts (all 20), speedometer cable, a few oil change kits (gaskets/bolts/screens) and deck lid brackets, barely $150 and free shipping.

Was inspecting the car last night and noticed the rear apron seems to be held in with some thin screws, that's a racer mod. I won't have to lift the car to pull the motor. Makes sense, I met a guy around 2003 who identified the car. It used to belong to him and he used to drag race it. He named every color it has been painted (coral, white, yellow, dove blue) before the last paint job (navy blue metalic). I'm thinking of sending some pics to Hot VWs magazine to see if they can circulate them and see if anybody who owned the car prior to that recognizes it. I'd love to hear where it was before.

It also hit me this morning that while this was stored in a super secret secure storage facility (moms garage) I always saw it as a project I would need to take days off to tackle. Now that its home in my garage I can work on it any time, no deadline, no rush. What a nice feeling.

No worries. I found a guy who works 10 minutes from my house who flew to Clearwater to buy a truck and is driving it back today. #networking

How about a link instead? Pics are a little underwhelming, but the seller is long-established in the aircooled Porsche community. And $1000 off retail for new CF fenders is a screaming deal.

    The bad news:
I still haven't gotten the speedo cable back on my t100 dash cluster. I was told by my mechanic today that despite the t100 being built in 08/96, the VIN says it's a 1997 year model and Texas law states it will require emissions til January 1st 2022.

    The good news:
I'll just keep fixing it til January and enjoy not paying insurance since it doesn't move much yet. Plus the safety only inspection is $7 vs $45 for the safety/emissions inspection. And I believe registering a classic is cheaper but I could be wrong. Maybe insuring it will be cheaper too. Not sure.

I had planned on having it road worthy by October 1st. Then pushed that back to November 1st. So now it's January 1st. I need to get the speedo cable back on and install the new fuel pressure sensor. I need new cupholders, shifter console, and tailgate handle. I need to fix the electronic locks and windows. Install a new radio. Change all the fluids. Change the spark plugs. Run a leak down test and compression test and oil sample test. Replace or re-stuff the driver seat. Buy and program key fobs. Replace yellow headlights. Install a trailer hitch and wiring. Replace plastic bed liner with spray on bed liner.

The rest are just things I want to do:
Lexus wheels and 265/65r17 all terrains, rear sway bar, install my OBX headers, custom exhaust, Magnuson supercharger, URD 7th injector kit. Re-paint in Toyota horizon blue metallic.

    Here's one for y'all.

This has been bugging me for a while. 2012 Highlander. VIN in the ballpark of 5TDYK3EH1CS05xxxx, 63k miles. Same one w/this popping driver side window.

I'm already aware of the TSB (attached) T-SB-0097 where a gear honing issue supposedly causes whining noises above 35 MPH. This Highlander VIN is on the list, but here's the deal. The drone/whine doesn't kick in until around 75mph and continues thru at least 85-90mph. The second you let off the gas, it stops.

If you resume pressing the gas pedal anywhere in that 75-90 speed range, *POOF*, it's back, but immediately goes away if you let off the pedal. Tap the pedal 5 times? Get whine each time the pedal starts to engage, stops each time you let off. Doesn't do this at any other speed, never go above 90, so not sure if it continues higher.

I plan to try the 1.75oz wheel weight TSB article this because I know Toyota ain't about to fix this or my steering column knock TSB issues now, we caught both too late.

But just curious if anyone else has heard of similar, or a separate issue that only affects higher speeds (70mph+) but isn't seen at lower ones (under 55mph).

    100% speculation
To me, this sounds like a fluid dynamics problem. At high speeds, the diff fluid is sloshing into a different pattern preventing the r&p from being properly lubricated.
Best solution is to throw the whole car in the bin.
    That's all I've got.

Oh, believe me, we're ready to do just that :D

Chatted on the way back from camping off the Nickajack this past weekend. Noise came up several times on the interstate going home , so we were looking over used inventory & pricing on Highlanders, despite the two clear issues Toyota had with this one. Maybe going Hybrid next vehicle, something a couple years old, under 50k miles.

I need to pop the door panel off this week to see if I can figure out this driver side window pop issue, then buff out some of my better-3/4's mishaps, might be able to get $15-16k off it. Fully loaded with towing added, JBL, no nav, it's a great car with low miles. If it weren't for this damn low whirring sound at 75mph+ and steering clunk we'd probably keep it a few more years.

This theory could probably be tested safely, albeit inconveniently, by filling the diff with a heavier weight lubricant briefly to note any changes.
