That is exactly where I am kind of torn. A lot of parts I can swap over from my old truck to the new one (wheels/tires, exhaust, shell, lights, radio if I really wanted, etc) but my truck does have 100K less miles. The body on the new truck seems to be cleaner than mine. I am running all the numbers, if I can get it bought/sold for what I want, I think I can get the swap to my truck with $1000 or less out of pocket from me. Both are 4x4.

With my truck, I know what I have done to it and what it needs. The other truck is a crap shoot on the timing belt, trans, brakes, etc. I guess that is the biggest hold up is the mileage difference.

Completely understand. To me, mileage isn't the biggest priority as if things are taken care of they will go another 300K+ as we've seen numerous times on these trucks (and other Toyota's). Both trucks will need the same care at some point. I would see what has been done & when and if the maintenance is there, keep the higher mileage and sell the lower as other people care about this a lot more than myself. I also have 2 other vehicles so if it were to break down, I'm ok and not everyone has this possibility. 100k miles to me isn't a reason to disregard the truck. That $1000 could go toward a fresh front end rebuild or new timing belt/wp or suspension setup if the other items have been taken care of.

I'm actually glad I bought a truck with almost 300k and want to get to at least 500k with it. I'm really curious to know how long the charger has been on. It's pretty rare to see that high of mileage trucks with chargers (honestly thought I was alone with almost 300k and a charger as I couldn't find any others. Most people were asking about them worried they will only last 100k or so and it's cool to see 300k still going strong)

I thought Toyota stopped offering the supercharger because it ended with a lot of damaged engines? I'm curious how many were sold as I never see them for sale. I don't know if I would do it or not. I know I wouldn't sell my particular truck because I know all the service history. The original owner did literally everything he was supposed to, maintenance wise. That's worth something I can't quantify.

If the supercharged truck has decent records like you suggest, then it might be an easier decision. I would definitely have someone look it over though.

I am with you and the mileage doesn't necessarily scare me. Even when this trucks are neglected, they still little to no problems. CarFax is super clean with only have three owners. From the pics, it looks like it's in extremely good condition. Body looks straight and interior looks great.

The OEM 2UZ chargers are like a unicorn. They pop their heads up every now and then and fetch a pretty penny. I know of two for sale at the moment and they are both north of $4000. The cheapest one I saw was $3500. They were only made for a few years because people start modifying them for more boost which caused rods to break. I have been looking at them ever since I bought my truck and from what I have researched, they are extremely reliable as long as you don't push them past what they were designed for.

That is very clean. Make sure you poke the frame. How much suspension work have you done to your current truck? How much work has this one had done? I'm thinking that with that many miles just about everything suspension wise is due(assuming it hasn't been done). It already has a matching topper which is nice! And the interior looks equally clean. Someone took care of that one.

Did you say you're not sure when the last timing belt was?

09/2018 it shows the radiator was replaced @ 262K.
The last timing belt shows @ 103K via MyToyota. In the pics, there is a sticker on the air box but I can't see what it says, fingers crossed it's a timing belt one. Worst case scenario, it's $500 for my buddy to do it.
CarFax shows it has had the same owner since 2011.

Well, it's hard to say for certain but that mainly looks like surface rust. It's a bit more than I would be comfortable with but I recognize that you are going to have a lot more rust in CO than I see here. I would spend more time under that truck than I would outside it. Bring a flashlight.

Yeah, it actually looks pretty close to frame on my truck. It shows its been a CO truck all it's life, like mine. From the pics, it looks like the front either has a leveling/lift kit. I will be going over it with a fine tooth comb.

    Well....

That was a total let down lol. The truck was extremely rough. The body was not anywhere as clean as the pictures looked like and the whole interior was hammered except the backseat. The driver seat bolster, grab handle, various switches were literally gone lol.

The test drive was a let down as well. I guess comparing it to my old ‘03 Tahoe with a Magnuson blower, I was expecting some real pep and that was not the case. The coolant reservoir was empty so the fan ran the whole time we drove it. I just really didn’t feel like the power was there. They were asking $7000 and said $5500 cash would get it and I walked. Oh well, live and learn; best of all, I get to keep my truck!

Edit: Oh and the AC and oil pressure gauge didn’t work. Or it had no pressure? It was also missing the entire tail pipe after the muffler.. I keep remembering things as I go.

The big thing with the blowers was the weak rods on the 4.7. That’s the only fear I’d have with owning one. I’ve never driven a 4.7 supercharged but I’d imagine it’s maybe a little faster than the 05-06 VVTi motors

Personally I can say after driving it, I would be extremely disappointed and pissed if I paid $4000+ for a 4.7 blower and ended up with those results.

I'm wondering if that's "normal". It's definitely not worth 4k+ (imo) as these chargers aren't that efficient. I think the biggest issue, at least for me, is the gearing on these trucks (4spd with 34"s). I can't wait to get 4.56's in!

I think you were one interested in that shock relocation kit. Archive is having a small sale on it right now. $300, down from $320.

Agreed here on the VVTi + 5spd. They are about 220whp where the charger should be around 250-265whp (without supporting mods).

Doing VVTi + Headers & Exhaust should net very close to S/C results.

I've only seen (1) Dyno of an S/C 4.7 and I cannot locate it now but he had the S/C + mods that was at 330whp.

There was a guy on TS who adapted the supercharger to his 06, best of both worlds.

The vvti engine rods are even weaker than the non vvti. But I’d totally try it...

biggest issue with the trd blower is the lack of an INtercooler

Exactly!! I wonder because that was a 2000 with probably only the 9th injector if the additional 10th injector helps much? From my understanding the additional injectors are to cool the air.

Wish there was more info on these things out there

I don't want it to sound like it did absolutely nothing, but for what they are currently selling for, I'd LS swap it before I spent that lol.

Look at it like this: if you bought the truck for $5500, you have the SC and a truck for that. $4k for the SC leaves $1.5k on the truck. Strip the SC and sell the truck for $3k and that leaves $1.5k for the instal.

For the corner/blinker bulb, is anyone running LED's or is it a waste of money? The orange coating on mine are all peeling off so I'm trying to decide if I go with LED this time or not.

I use a cheap Sylvania LED, but the parking light no longer works. Turn function works which is priority. I have no inline resistors just an LED turn signal module with adjustable timing. I eyeballed the "turn time" and got it close enough so it doesn't bother me. I thought it would be easier to remove, and install one thing instead of installing resistors at every light.

You need to get 1st gen Scion xB turn signal sockets (plug and play conversion to bayonet style) or you’ll lose your parking lights. You also will either need a resistor or a new turn signal relay (smart tap is nice if you want strobes and lane change functions)

If you use the stock bulb with leds, the way the sockets made most leds are not going to function properly
