Even the old ones? I like the old ones but not a fan of the new ones. Its just a hatchback depending on nostalgia to sell. Same boat as New Beetles, just a golf turned cute and with less space to work on anything.

From everyone I know and all I've heard EVERY Mini, new or old, leaks oil. If I'm going to get a vehicle that I know is going to use oil, it's gonna be a turbocharged boxer from Subaru.

The ONLY mini I like is Project Binky.
    IFYKYK

NGL, you had me in the first half...then you said Subaru. They leak oil and coolant and compression...all from the same gaskets.
I really thought you were going to say an aircooled beetle or Harley or 2-stroke Kawasaki...something cool.

The old 2.5s had those issues, BUT not if you didn't mod the shit out of them. All the guys with the blown gaskets and motors going 'nade on them were modded up. Run it stock, or with nothing but a mild tune, and you'll just have basic oil consumption.

Or go with the new 2.0 that was done in 2015 MY and newer, and you have nothing but oil consumption modded up to 300 HP.

Do you know the only top three brands for reliability?

    1. Lexus
    2. Toyota
    3. Subaru
Boxers get hate because they are a bitch to work on, but if you don't abuse it you don't have to worry.

I'm going to respectfully contest that Subarus don't push out head gaskets if they're stock. I've seen many stock head gaskets push out of stock Subarus, including the Legacy my dad drove for years. (automatic trans, actually drives like there's an egg between his foot and the pedals)
Those cars are junk. Subaru owners are, more often than not, like Jeep owners....cultists. They'll praise the Subaru as a godsend, from the side of the road, while they wait for AAA. I'm not buying it for a minute.

I happen to own an H6 engine that is fantastically easy to work on. Subaru forked that up as well.

All discussion/viewpoints are respectfully presented unless specifically directed toward obvious trolls. That said, yes, the 2.5 did have issues, and I can't speak toward their automatics (who would buy a turbocharged sports car with an auto if the stick is an option?) but I know that there's a cult-ish following for Subies. However, there are tons of the 2.0's out there, and I haven't heard of any issues that weren't either EGR or mod related. Heck, they were deemed reliable enough to be put in a Toyota/Scion, and I haven't heard of any reliability issues there either.

Thats pretty damn good! I was drinking Arrogant Bastard back around 2007 and got their IPA from time to time. Back then I loved that if I brought beer somewhere nobody would drink it, they stuck to their bud light or whatever. These days my beer isn't so safe.

Yeah that was well before the big microbrew craze hit. Back in around 2003 or so, I got to be petty tight with one of the reps, to make a long story short, I had a huge 4th of July party, and she GAVE me a keg of Bastard (employee allowance of 1/month) and loaned me her jockey box. That’s the only time a keg ever lasted til sunrise. You don’t do kegstands or beer bongs with Arrogant Bastard Ale!

Pretty much means what I implied. It was of course just some good natured ribbing at @Darkness because he's automatically cool for having a pug; booze hipster or not.

Hahahaha no way. I could never be a hipster. I can't grow a beard and beanies make my head itchy.

I did like Stone before many people I knew liked it though. Back then they had maybe 5 flavors, at least thats what La Bodega in Riverside carried. I miss that liquor store.

@RUSTYNUTS thats really cool of them. I went to a keg party with a jockey box, thats a game changer. We had 2 half kegs though, one of Cali Creamin and the other was Belchin Beaver peanut butter stout. I didn't pick the beer but I drank a lot of it. Those are not my style.

Well guys. I dun did it finally.

I 1993 MR2 will be in my possession in a few weeks. He’s throwing a lot of the v6 parts in for the swap. It’s just a rolling chassis currently. Hopefully I can locate an trans and engine soon

You’re planning on putting in a v6 instead of the standard 4 cyl? That should be fun if you do.
