My thoughts? Yeah, not bad, I'd hit it.

    1) Curious why he went through the trouble of a Subaru motor but didn't use a transaxle with synchros. Seems like an odd choice.

    2) I loved that he kept the pea shooters just for the blow off valve :rofl:thats amusing and brilliant.

    3) Thats a very nicely built Beetle. The front suspension looks so alien to me, I've not seen many Super Beetles from below.

    4) I'm curious what his quarter mile times are. Hard to get a real sense of it but that seems a bit quicker than mine, definitely faster as mine tops out just above 103 as far as I know.

    5) She is a pretty enjoyable host. I was prepared to be annoyed but she knew quite a bit and seemed unashamed to admit what she didn't know. I'll have to check out more. Plus, she shifted the car about as well as he did when she scared him hahaha.

Sleeper beetles are always cool. I've seen a few with the Subaru motors. There was one doing highway runs and just dominating everything it came across, I think the videos were removed from YouTube. I still prefer the old air-cooled motors, there is something about them that is hard to replace.

That was pretty wild with the take off. Shifting was between 8-9k rpms on the gauge.

I couldn't get over how unphased he was by the wheelie and drop. My 70 can pull the front wheels up but not that high and not that easily. My tires bark first and when it catches it lifts, his just lifted as soon as he let the clutch go.

That transaxle has very short gears. Interesting approach since most guys who convert to a 5 speed want highway speeds.

Made the decision to have the SPC UCA's installed and alignment done at State 48 Overland here in Az based on the recommendation of a fellow forum member and their rep. Unless @Lil Steve wants to make some extra $$$ and throw on the rear leafs too? J/K, man.

Looked around for the 145 and 165 tires I wanted for the older beetle. Couldn't find the 145s hardly anywhere. I saw them on Coker for about 100 per corner, ouch. Then the taxes hit, $428, ouch. Then the shipping! They wanted $132 for ground shipping. Forget it, not getting into $560 territory.

Found the same tires elsewhere for the same price but with free shipping. Sweet! Added to my cart and got to the free shipping part... estimated delivery date 10/6/21 wtf!

So I did some searching and some math. I built a tire size calculator on excel. I used to run 135 fronts and 165 rears. I found out 165/65 is the same height as a 135/80 but has the stock contact width. 185/65 is just a bit shorter than stock tires but has a bit more contact width and fits in the rear fender fine. Found Continentals in those sizes, $90 each and free shipping. Out the door at $397, still more than I wanted to pay but beats the hell out of Coker's total. Plus I prefer Continental over Firestone any day.

Here is the funny part. My front tires are shipping from Nevada. My rear tires are shipping from Los Angeles. The front tires are expected to get here 2 days sooner than the rears. That is how bad LA traffic is.

I'll gladly lend a hand installing the rears if you want. Not a difficult job but getting things into place would definitely be easier with 2 people.

I sincerely appreciate your generous gesture but due to my work schedule I have to turn all parts installation duties over to paid help/shops.

Straight edge punk. No drugs, no booze, no tobacco, no promiscuous sex. They want to prove punk rock doesn't need those thing to fuel the chaos. They also want to see their idols live long healthy lives and full careers. Unfortunately some of them also want to police the scene and enforce their beliefs on others and can do so with violence.

No. It's an 80's hardcore punk rock trend/subculture that lives on to some degree

Not a straight edge band. Just NYC street punk. But the opening quote fits your description and I love it because punk is life. :rockband::headbang:

    That's the right attitude. :fistbump:

Most popular music sucks. Most DIY music sucks. Most hip hop sucks. Most country sucks. Most modern music sucks. But when you hear something you like, it's great. And that's all anyone can ask for.

Basic maybe. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I like classic rock and classic country. I loath modern country. It's just pop garbage with southern twang.

Not sure if you can see it well or not but it is tinted. It's been there about 3 years, I had a small leak above the passenger visor but they came back and repaired it shortly after install.

Agreed. I was always of the belief that the only rule in punk was that there are no rules. But then again I guess some people want rules. I dunno.
