I'll tip a beer to that. Tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, no biggie. The prickly little hair legs on those fuckers turn me into a little girl screaming. I hate roaches. I'll take rats over roaches.

Happy 4th everybody. I'm trying hard to clear my garage. 5 beers in with a late start today. Little known fact my town f Moorpark celebrates on the 3rd of July so I was hammered last night and couldn't function this morning.

Hope your day went well @chrisb you're hopefully home by now.

Lol! I have to admit the man in me becomes less recognizable around them too. I can handle the little guys but when they're palm-sized? Uh uh.

Quick story. When I was a younger man I had a summer job in a feed mill mixing ingredients for equine and cattle feed. Nearly every morning when we would arrive for work and open the doors to the storage area there would be giant dead rats, maybe 2 ft long with big, nasty, sharp yellow teeth, and blood splattered on the walls 5-6 ft off the floor. I learned that the Vitamin K in the feed made the rats grow and the younger males would basically have death-matches with the older males to kill them off to keep the supply ratio of females in their favor. The scene looked like a Manson family massacre.

The house I grew up in had freakishly big rats every Summer. They would crawl around in the walls and ceiling all night. I got used to killing those things as a kid, it was practically a pastime.

When I was a teenager I had a job at one of those dirty dollar stores for under minimum wage. I had to haul pallets of goods in by hand, one box at a time. They often had roaches from exotic countries in them. One time I'll never forget I was carrying a box of shampoo and felt a scratching go up my belly, around my ribs to my back and turned down. I dropped the shampoo and freaked out, the big bastard roach fell out and hit the ground. I stomped on him and he squirted like a ketchup packet, then he ran off under an aisle rack as if nothing happened. Then I had to clean up the goo he left behind.

Well here In Maine last summer I’m in a store with my wife just people watching. Some 8 year old girl comes over holding a small bug catcher. Inside are not one but two of exactly what you are holding. She proceeds to take one out and hold the damn thing, crawling all over her hand and arm. They were her PETS. Had them for quite some time. :duh: Cute little kid. Those parents are definitely letting her live out her childhood LOL

Im completely convinced that the end credits from dying through human conscienceness, is you have to live the life of everything you kill. I dont want to be a rat, i dont kill rats. But i dont have to. We get possums, coons, and armadillos. And everything gets thrown over fence onto my ‘wild’ property.

Possums are actually great, I would never consider killing one around here. I also have a three legged coon friend that chums around frequently and approach me when I’m feeding or giving it water

I have zero intrest in that trash they produce these days. I’m not a rap/hip hop guy anyway, but at least in the 90s there was substance to the music.

Here we go boys. 8 pound pork butt brined in water/Yuengling overnight, dry rubbed with Buc-ee Steak Seasoning and left overnight.

Now it's on the smoker at 200° until it's done, getting sprayed with a mix of water/maple syrup every 45.

My family is coming over next week so this is a test run. Pork shoulder and 2 chickens is the plan for that.

A battery of those positioned just uphill from my moat would be ideal.
    "trespassing strongly discouraged"

I went out to the garage at 0930 to lay down some weld-through primer on the frame reinforcements. Mike arrived shortly thereafter and we got to work a little before 1000.
The jeep rolled out of the garage (under its own power) at 2000.
After a shower and some clean clothes, I got to catch the last 1/3 of the neighborhood fireworks. At that time, I found out who all had attended the BBQ ~15' from the garage.

Frankly, I'm just glad Mike's Jeep is no longer in danger of folding in half.
I'll post some pics in a few minutes....as long as I remember. I am more than a little tired.

EDIT: Thank you for thinking of me.

    That is nightmare fuel.
