Discussed with current jobs HR rep while at job fair. She told me that when people weren't at her booth she was at other booths looking for other employment also.

Discussed current state of affairs. Future out look. She told me that while she'd been she saw 15 people from work at the job fair looking elsewhere. I was there for 45 minutes to an hour, and saw five from dayshift personally.

11 people inquired about working here.

I asked some of the competitors and the general answer was 30 people or more seeking employment through competition.

The ship is sinking. I'm curious to see how bad things will get, but not curious enough to find out. Last thing I need is this at an interview "You worked where??? Get your shit, and get out!"

Do what you want to do. It doesnt take much talent for someone to pay you. With global shipping, its easier than ever to live in bfe and reach the world. Unless you want to be at a place thats in a certain place. Otherwise id work at ebr. But michigan.

There's these weird things growing out of the ground here. Not sure what they're for or what they're called, but they do make shade so I'm cool with them.

On big and/or remote projects, a work camp is often set up. Very common in the oil/gas, mining and forestry sectors. It allows employees to work longer shifts and not have to commute every day or in the case or remote camps, workers are flown in and have a mostly civilized place to live. In my case I work 14 days on, 7 days off. I go home for my days off. Basically think of it as a hotel for workers that provides food too. Camps range from shit holes to really nice, but all are basically just places to eat and sleep. I'm in a decent camp now, but the food is pretty mediocre.

This is the camp I'm in now. It will house up to 1500 workers at peak capacity iirc.

I think the smokies are technically a rain forest but even for us, the past few years have been nuts. We've gotten way more rain than normal. I love how green everything is though.

Whenever I think of lots of rain, I think of watershed management; since that’s a huge thing out here.
I’m guessing you guys have really good rivers and gutters and diversions that are proven.
It’s spectacular out here to watch the always dry “river beds” flood bank to bank and watch all the crap that comes from up stream

I know what you mean, minus the flash flooding thing. We have a "river" 15 minutes north of amarillo that all the knuckle draggers go play at. Then I drive up here to Tulsa and cross the Arkansas (pronounced are-kansas) river and see the damn forest that starts right after OKC. This country is amazing in its geographical diversity and how people adapt to it.

I catch a days worth of water when it rains, maybe 50 gal, and spread it over 3 days. Gutter collection is coming, but i need to doodle covered patio plans to straighten inside corners. Otherwise ive got potted weeds under my dripline.
