You should be fine, most blues are similar to regular trails just longer and no pedaling!

Filled out interim review on Boss this morning. Not sure if the 3 sentence eval of him saying it’s a joy to work with him holds much weight.

What’s worse is having to fill out my Section manager’s opinion of me so he can go in and correct it after I did the heavy lifting for him.

    Go figure.

They weren’t kidding when the company said people working from home would save on utilities. AC at work is set to trip on at 78F with so few people working there. My next visit will be in shorts so long as I don’t need to meet with anyone.

I am once again asking you for "financial support."

Things are happening at work. We've missed every shipment/export of parts except for one for the last two weeks. Toyota motor corporation is now involved. They contacted my bosses, bosses, boss(?) which poured down in a heavy shit storm. Our management, engineering, welders, and other non-production personnel are now on a rotating shift working the production floor from. 4am to 8pm.

I spoke personally with the two different temporary staffing services managers we use for temporary employees. They both explained in short that they've been through everyone at their disposal. There's no one left to send us that will come willingly.

Every area in the plant is on 12s. Every area except for the few that are fully staffed are working every weekend. 12s all day, both shifts. I see the beginnings of a mass exodus. The writing on the wall is there in big bold red letters. Most of the employees that are still here are being juggled between areas. Basically, management thinks "we know we aren't making our shipments in this area. Let's pull this employee, and place them in an area where we MIGHT hit the target.":duh:

Each missed truck means an oodle and gob of money is sent to our customer as reparations for missing our target. Per truck. We were doing probably 25 semi trucks a day. :spending:

I learned tonight that there's a job fair tomorrow. Lots of Vendors are are be there. It ends an hour before I have to clock in. Plenty of time for me to get to work afterwards as it's down the road. Others in maintenance on dayshift from my work will be attending. With permission, or not. They will be taking points to attend which means they are serious... I haven't written a resume in 4-5 years. I have some questions for the people who have been in positions to hire others
    1. What makes a potential employee stand out to you?
    2. Is there anything that when you see it, you just dismiss the application outright? Just done?
    3. Do you look at a plain resume, or colorful?
    4. What piques your interest in a potential employee?

Any tips, and reccomendedations will be welcome.

Another question regarding finances, and life. I'm not fully "vested" in my company because I haven't been here 5 years full time yet. I will lose a chunk of my 401K that was contributed by work because of this. I have another 1.75 years before I'm fully vested. Putting a full 5 years at one employer as a maintenance technician will also look better on a resume me thinks.

Stay, or go? I'm on the fence because of 401K loss, and Resume building. I should have plenty of time left to work until I'm dead to build 401K again.

    Unsure...

@Tundra2 , go if your new job pays 20% more than you’re making now. You’ll make up your 3.25 years of employer contributions with the offset in the next 1.75 years.

Plus exposure to new people will be better then the bizarre Hill people you work with now.

No reason to be loyal to a company if you can get paid more elsewhere. A plain, professional looking resume goes further than outlandish colors, especially I think considering the field. Shit grammar and spelling usually leads to immediate dismissal.

You can take my input with a grain of salt, the last resume I truly had to do was for OCS but prior to that I worked for a couple companies in several fields. My standout points in my resumes always leaned on pointing out my ability to work with a team or solo, to lead teams when needed or follow when needed, and my ability to identify problems and create working solutions, and then I would work that into whatever the company did and how I'd add to them as an employee.

But legitimately loyalty to companies is dead, take your experience and current pay to press for improved wages at another company if you have the opportunity.

Unless you're after a 'creative' position with your new company, resume format is unimportant.
Grammar and spelling are very important. No one cares if you can spell...they care if you're detail oriented. Grammar and spelling are very easy details to get right with even a tiny bit of effort.

Don't be afraid to brag on yourself a little bit. Mention merits/awards/certs/trainings/etc.

    1) definitely black and white. No colors unless you're applying to be a artist. Keep it clean and organized.
    2) Relevant job experience and at least some tenure at the same job. If they have worked 6 jobs in 2 years I'll be a little concerned. Or if they can't explain huge gaps in their employment.
Neither of those issues apply to you as I know you've worked there a while. You are an outgoing person that's easy to talk to. If there is a company at the job fair you want to speak to just go be yourself and be honest. Tell them your background and what you're looking for. Anyone would be lucky to have you at this point. Don't overthink it.

This is the way. I left my last job and lost some of my 401k match but I got a 18-20% raise. I just dumped more money into my 401k last year and made up the loss. Corporations don't give a fuck about people anymore. If you can find a better job, making more money, or with better benefits, it may be time to leave. Your next company will likely be so desperate to hire you right now they won't care you haven't been there 5 years. Also, employees looking for jobs have all the power right now. Don't be afraid to turn down their first offer and tell them you want more.

You have gotten some solid advice. I definitely think you should move around a bit. You will gather new skills at each job. You should start a spreadsheet for your personal finance goals like you did with the truck. Do the math on any job move, add in any retirement changes or health insurance costs. If there is extra drive time consider the costs. Math makes financial decisions easy.

Keep the resume simple. Follow the guides on the internets.

Guess it would be in bad taste to add in "Amateur Welder" under Skills

"Some welding experience" would probably be better, eh?
