Meh it's an appliance with wheels, if I were buying for fun I'd be looking at a Supra.

As much as I despise people, I couldn't live with myself buying a hybrid. 10-15mpg is a lot, but the way the raw materials are strip-mined and then processed into those batteries is morally bankrupt.

But it's green! Yeah it's a little silly how much crap goes into batteries. It makes deep sea drilling look like bass fishing.

Yep, picked up a ‘21 Corolla Hybrid at the end of March. She’s not sporty, but since the other vehicle is a Tundra, it is fun to cruise around town. You get a bit of juice at early throttle tip in, but the engine starts wheezing pretty fast. Don’t care, didn’t buy it for speed. Gets 50mpg city or highway.

Speaking of hybrids - how does one know it needs a new engine battery? I'm assuming if the battery was dead the car would jump start itself from the hybrid battery. I know if the hybrid is dead it starts sucking on the motor battery. my hybrid is 14 so likely due a motor battery, but how will it announce the need to me?

edit; push start button, no click, click, click. Actually - never heard any starter noises, just circuit on/off.

LOL. Depends where you live. I sold my last bike after a series of cars trying to kill the motorcyclist events. Kinda thought I saw a pattern. ;)
Picked up the hybrid a couple years back almost as a farce. But it's been a fantastic vehicle. Does the exit ramp slalom 20mph faster than the Tundra or Tacoma. Gives me 20mpg more than the Tacoma, 25-30 mpg more than the Tundra. The hybrid is pretty much a sleeper in a cockroach suit.

I still think as soon as someone makes an affordable electric conversion that bolts to a common transfer case or trans or in place of either readily... That's the day you will see electric become the new ls swap. We may only be 5 years away now. Sounds like fun to me. Hopefully someone smarter than me is dreaming something up right now.

Toyota hybrids are WAY cheaper in the long run maintenance wise if you keep it long term. 10-15 years in the main battery life wise. Brakes last way longer, the engine is WAY less taxed. It’s normal for me to see 300k mile plus Prius with next to 0 maintenance come in

If people can live with the fact it’s a hybrid, I recommend hybrids over gasoline cars these days for basic commuters

but don’t let anyone fool you.. anything with the big ol batteries ARE HORRIBLE for the environment

I’m sure being in San Antonio you get it too but I see these guys running ground straps off of their trailer hitch all the time. I think it started with oil field guys that actually had a welder bolted to the bed. I don’t know if it did anything but now every 18yr old redneck has one.

Point being, they remind me of reverse bumper cars.

So what's the scoop on the aliens? Do you think it will all be revealed soon or is it more smoke and mirrors? Are we alone or are we being visited by friends from other planets/dimensions?

I am thinking all this ufo stuff is just government testing and spoofing to piss off/confuse other countries. I've seen some weird stuff and I'm pretty sure it wasn't alien.

I really doubt we are alone in the Universe. It just seems so unlikely and we know so little.

Does anyone think it's possible to remove my ABS module? Can someone without ABS snap a picture of their MC? I'm curious where those brake lines stop.

I never said we were alone. I just don't think all the recent ufo sightings are aliens visiting us. I doubt we are alone. It would be naive of us to think we understand our own solar system or dimensions or whatever good enough to say we are definitively alone.

Nah it's been a while since I've seen some stuff. The coolest I've seen lately was a meteorite or two.
