:rofl::rofl:I'm tempted to do this just to mess with vegans.

I remember when I was around 15 and went to my mom's friends house to help her move. She asked if I was hungry and she made some chicken nuggets as a quick thing. I took a bite and thought they were horrible but didn't want to be rude, I went hard on sweet n sour sauce to power through. She told me when I was a few nuggets in that these are her daughters favorite- "meatless chicken nuggets". They're made of soy. I had the same "why the f does this exist" question in my head. If she wasn't such a milf back then I would have gone on a rant, but I said they're good and finished my plate.

The question is... Why though? If you don't want to eat meat then I get it. I just don't know why some of this stuff exists. Like @Darkness and his "chicken" nuggets... If people want to eat soy or tofu then wouldn't there be things you could make that wouldn't just be an imposter for the real food?

I'm beginning to see a trend here. Excuse me while I go catch the 8th rehash of Ghostbusters or the next episode of Superman has superpowers, but he also has a weakness.

I know coconut oil allergies are rare but if you’re allergic and eat one of those plant based burgers, you’ll go into anaphylactic shock instantly with the amount of coconut oil it contains.

I'm not going to get into why plant based meat exisits. Y'all know the answer. I don't know why eating meat has become macho. I see comments all the time making it seem like you're less of a man if you are vegan. I like meat, I eat it, but I've also had a ton of vegetarian meals that are damn good. I like trying new foods. I also see comments picking fun at dudes that are vegan as if every person that does that must be a raging socialist that drives a Prius. I follow a bodybuilder that is absolutely huge and he's vegan.

Actually, tofu has no taste. The magic in making it is to actually make it taste like something else. We had a place in Brookline, MA called “Tofu Joe’s” that a lot of people went to because he (Joe) was able to make tofu dishes that actually tastes like some common foods I heard.

We have a ways to go until it's the way it is supposed to be. Maybe when we stopped subsidizing this nonsense. Let the market happen, it would fix this problem quick.

    No meat here :hungry::broccoli:

I've never been a fan of the Morningstar stuff or chicken nugget soy crap that's in the freezer aisle. Plant-based meat has definitely been a meal changer for me. I've been onboard with it for awhile now and it's obvious the companies are working to improve and develop it further.

This photo is why the majority of the meat at the table in our house is wild game. Health aside, the environmental impact from feed lots alone should convince people otherwise. All that poo, piss and hormone injected water runs off right back into your local stream unregulated.

I’ve been buying a lot of my meat from a local butcher, and I really like supporting him because he supports the local 4H and clubs of the like. He also brings in students from the college and goes to the land lab to show them how to process a animal. A lot of the meat he processes is local or from the state, I’d much rather support that, and you can taste the difference.

I buy my meat from a local farmer "in bulk". I pay less than cheap walmart prices. All it takes is an add on craigslist and an empty deep freeze. My beef eats grass. It has one bad day. I see no need for all those other steps.

I’ll one up ya, I work for an O&G operator who was swindled by a landowner to decommission and demo a turkey farm in order to develop wells on their property. Fucking horrendous.

Not everybody gets down into the flat lands west of here.

Chicken/turkey houses as far as you can see. You best hope there's a breeze on a hot summers day.

It is unbelievable. I don't understand how that is legal. The property value for miles has to be dropping like crazy anywhere they put one of those.

Regulation got rid of all the chicken (egg) ranches here, our quality of life went up tremendously afterwards. We used to never be able to open our windows in the summer because of all the flies let alone the smell.

I have nothing against vegetarian or vegans really, but I can't see why they would want fake meat. Over the last few years I've ate less meat little by little and enjoy food without it, but I can't handle substitute meat, thats like drinking O'douls.

My sister and her husband are freegans. I always thought that was a joke but they are vegetarian until somebody else is paying, then they'll eat whatever. Last time I was there I got her a stuffed cheeseburger and her husband a double bacon burger. Weird way to live.

Yeah we have a guy that raises beef for a neighbor so we buy from him. The difference in taste is amazing. I would just say more flavorful. The price was better too. It's nice to get the bones for the dogs. They love a big bone section with about 1.75" diameter of marrow. This year we will be doubling our order. We just eat out so much less with two kids and eating healthier.
How many times can I get a burger with extra lettuce and no bun? Or if I'm wanting a few carbs, a couple shredded beef tacos from betos. Might as well eat salad with some meat in it at that point.
