I can't tell if I hate it, or love it...

This is on an access cab truck which kinda defeats the purpose unless you have kiddos...

If it wasn't painted it would be better. Like leather wrapped or something.

You know what the hard part of this is - finding 20' of flat in this town. no place on my 1/4 acre. I'll have to look at the slope on the floor of the depot next week, maybe I can do this after hours inside work if they're running late parking the trucks.
Fun fact - I use the double glass doors at work after work to check out if all my lights work - great for verifying all brake lights functional.

    Thanks @Professional Hand Model

technically a "tv screen" cannot be visible by the driver while vehicle is in operation. So techically all these iPhads in the dashboard of modern cars could be considered illegal. So that screen is actually better placed than in the dash. Recline drivers seat & that screen will be in view.

How come cars don't have television band on the radio? In my youth I had a transistor radio that had a tv band so you could listen to your tv shows on your radio. Never understood why that didn't get into car radios. ???

I tried that without having New Inserts. Its a lot of work. I’d rather pay for new ones than attempt this with existings (risky) and it not working properly. So much work to pull the door panel off and reach up in and do the work its safe just to have new ones IMO. I had some extras that I experiment with thanks to theblurry1 which helped me come to this conclusion.

Your Crunch Technique sounds pretty doable and since its still working gives it validity. Great idea!

Hate the color, but don't mind the idea. I've been thinking about an overhead screen for my kids. I guess it all depends how much time we are all spending in my truck. Now that my wife has a vehicle that I don't hate and that is fairly capable off-road, we might be spending less and less time with the whole family in my truck.

If I reworked my center console it would probably get AC vents in there somewhere. The side/back vents on the double cab are terrible. With a little less ducting and a shorter path for the air it might actually put out some useful air.
I want it. My major gripe with that generation of 4runner is lack of b@lls. I wouldn't mind an ls 4runner one bit. Keep it looking decent and it would be worth some coin in 10 years when most of them have holes everywhere.

Yesterday I started replacing the aftermarket LBJ with OEM and found a tear in the tie rod end link.

Any suggestions on an upgrade tie rod since I’ll also be needing to replace these?

    thanks

Are the tie rod ends a weak link? I just assumed OEM was the way. I did heims, but it requires a clevis to adapt the heim to the steering rack and drilling the spindle or using tapered deals.

A 20 footer popped up on the MI Craigslist last year for 3500. I tried to get everyone I knew to go pick it up. Those are one of the few RVs that you will get your money back out of it when you are done.

How did you remove the tie rod end? Prying? BFH?

My original OEM didn't show any signs it needed to be replaced after 17 years... so I went with OEM recently.

I read a little on it last night and found a few articles talking about getting better ones if the truck is lifted. I had the original sway bar link snap off, I thought maybe something similar could happen with the tie rod link?...

since they’ll be replaced, figured why not get something beefy

I'd think they would be alright as long as your aren't articulating them last the joints range. The sway bar links are a common failure. I would suspect if you can't find someone making a heavy tie rod setup that isn't heimed then you are looking at a pretty strong OEM part.

I got rid of a 3rd gen t4r to get my Tundra. I loved that truck. I just hate how incredibly slow it was/is. The damned thing was stock on 31s and a leveled. Would not make it up a decent hill without flooring it, downshifting, and still not maintaining speed.

Had it been reasonable to 2UZ swap it, (or LS) I would still be driving it.

Well, my truck can handle a full yard of topsoil. I was just going to take half at a time, but then the loader operator said "Yeah, you'll be close to max but these trucks are alot stronger than a Dodge".

So that's how it is. Load er up.

I was outside cleaning cat boxes and moving stuff in the dungeon so I can hopefully weld a rolling gate later; and I notice my neighbors Husky out front at the street but no neighbor. I slowly walk over and start gently calling his name “Ollie” he kinda looked puzzled but then came right up to me and leaned into my legs for some lovin. My neighbor finally comes out and I’m like yeah he was just snooping at the street and I wasn’t sure if he would run or not. My neighbor says it’s to hot for him to run anywhere and he wouldn’t go far if he did. I don’t blame the dog, I’m schfetzin and I don’t even have 4” thick fur(all over my body)
I’m sad they are moving, he’s the one of two neighbors that are always active with their property and I know he enjoys wondering what I’m working on each week. Our kids are the same age too, kinda sucks.

Built in ‘97 for my dad. Does 46 flat out, and with the tires at 18psi f/22psi r can take a hard dirty 90 at about 20mph. When i go camping i usually have this thing wedged in the jeep. Or in the rack off the hitch. And scout, collect firewood, and sometimes run to town. I usually run bicycle lights, and its quiet, so i dont get hassled beyond an id.

anyone rock the colemans or just dirtbikes and sxs’s?

Nice, you do a cam or anything?
I used to have a trike that I put a 212cc predator engine on, cam, flywheel, intake, exhaust. I easily doubled the HP.

No, was going to get a cam, carb, and pipe from a guy in dallas, but he never showed up. This one has a vacuum signal pump where the fuel filter was, and a homemade foam airfilter. Then tuned. 46mph is where the carb starts to lean out, ive got plans, but since its technically dads, i cant do nothing. And 46 is about as fast as you want with small tires and rear bias.

my minibike, had a 2-1/4hp tecumseh with a crooked 5hp carb and a series of aluminum can headgaskets and the tips ground off the valvestems to build compression. Threw the rod. It had a shaped baseball bat threaded into the head. The threads kinda melted, but it worked hard. Then i had a 5hp briggs 212 with a secondary weed eater carb that was super picky and at high rpm would rattle the sparkplug out. And i kept a plug wrench on the bike, because it would do like 4.5 laps, and half a mile of pushing included hills and angry neighbors.

right now mine has a bmx neck and rear stays, and was balanced for a 390cc honda. But ive got a 5hp briggs in the pic.

I honestly did not expect that smashing them in a vice would work, nor last. Only reason I attempted was because they were on their way the trash. If it hadn’t worked out so well for me, I’d totally buy this kit. Doesn't seem like a lot of work. Keep in mind, to replace the doorchecks, no matter what, (even to crimp them in a vice.... yeah I think crimp sounds better) you’ve gotta pull the door panel and dig em out

Yeah. I was just speaking in terms of having a ‘repair failure’ aka ‘Mangle’ and then not having a back up new one to install. :annoyed::rofl:

I used to have a 125 chinese pit bike when I was younger. It was far from being top end, but it was surprisingly solid and quite quick. I clocked it at around 52. Small tires make those speeds feel much faster. That thing was so handy I kept it in my truck as a spare vehicle haha. I would still have it if I didn't give it to my cousin's kid. I might need to get another one to motivate my kid to ride.

So I recently just sold my old tires/wheel setup and saw some major tire cupping. Was a bit scared as it's going to do the same to my new tires and I don't want that obviously.
I've installed new LBJs (non-oem) and bilstein 5100 shocks in the past 10K but I think I'm do for some more suspension work. Already parts on their way but can anyone give me torque specs of the following if they feel so inclined since I'll be installing new UCA (moog), LCA (moog), upper ball joints (OEM), and LBJ (OEM), SPC camber kit in case mine are frozen but I had an alignment done last year so not sure.
    Needing the torque specs of:
    4 LBA bolts
    LBA castle nut
    LCA camber bolts
    UCA bolt/nut
    upper ball joint
    lower shock to LCA mount

    I think that's everything
