Yeah. The Power Steering change is easily done since its all open. I had to draw the line as mine is still working and as its up higher than the Alternator ‘should’ be easier to replace. I’ll ride that one until either the rack fully blows or the pump goes. Hope to get a few more years!

Not sure about an easy Alternator Upgrade thats plug and play @Voss. I’ve seen some decent ‘conversion’ mods, but those aren’t easy and I don’t need them so they get a pass.

Ill look into it but from what I remember reading, pretty sure the sequoia alternator bolts right on. If not then I’ll stick with original. Hasn’t let me down yet.

Unfortunately, all the cardboard in the building is either immediately crushed when no longer needed or in use.

This made do. Only my calfs got wet. :)

I'm pretty sure this is the one you want Denso part # 210-1066. 150 amp is the highest that will bolt in. You might consider doing the big 3 upgrade while your at it.

Expected life on these alternators is 200k or so? I think I will consider a preemptive replacement and upgrade to the big sequoia alternator when the next belt is do.

Some report longer mileage. My Mojo Radar was tingling on mine (171k) so I planned it in on the TB Job. Cracked open the Alt and the bushings were down to the warning nubs. I also measured them and they were under spec per the FSM. Pics got erased so they are somewhere back on page 600 here.

Yeah I think I remember reading it at the time.

Next question, If a truck regularly uses 90 amps. Would a 150 amp alternator last longer than a 100 amp alternator? They both would do the job but the big one would be stressed less?

I’m not a scientist, but the way I see it is the Voltage Regulator determines whats needed and when. My truck will not demand more than how it was designed. I’ve not added extra demand so no extra stress. Actually, I’ve lowered demand with all the LED Bulbs and new fine tuned engine components.

To try to answer your question, the Upgrade is good for those that add demanding components. How much longer the Upgraded Alt lasts is hard to determine. Might not last as long or could last longer in a regular system. The Upgrade will handle extra demand systems better and last longer than an undersized one in the same extra demand system.

So the shop that’s doing my head gasket job for the sequoia brought up doing the timing belt since everything is gonna be apart. It was done at the most 5k ago. Somebody talk me out of re-using the belt? The only catch I can see is them not wanting to warranty the timing belt and stuff if it was to cause issues

Whats the total TB kit cost? Like $160 for Aisin? Sounds like a cheap deal if thats going to give you warranty. Sucks, but listen to them. Just the belt is like $65? Stop being a cheap bastid!:D

Why would you replace a belt with only 5k miles on it? Seems like a waste of money.

I posted a pic on the previous page. Apparently the metal is known to crack in that area. I've never heard of it but apparently it's happened to a lot of people.

Just make sure they use an OEM Toyota belt.

Edit: probably best you take them the parts cause... life happens sometimes

Not long ago I asked the stealer how much new battery wires were and the price was ridiculous. If someone were to do the “big 3”, what would you use for this upgrade?

for the HD versions? Really? crap. That's not something I wanna hear. He did say the standard versions 3/1 were stock height but that the HD versions give about 1.5" of lift due to more payload capability

Unsure if the double cab LBJs are different or not, but here was my order from cool springs last July.

    43330-39466 Lower Ball Joint $87.26

    43340-39356 Lower Ball Joint $87.26

    Installed in December.

    Part numbers are slightly different.

If it’s apart. Do the belt. REQUEST OEM.

Best time to do the water pump to

Why risk serious engine damage from the old belt snapping?

05-06 have beefier ball joints. Some 04s. Other than that all the others are the same
