Well, if yall go on a weekend I can mosey down yonder. I can bring some tow straps....

Get another set of my old tires put on my steel rims, and haul ass.
    20200810_075840.jpg

Unless there is another "better" off road tire available... I've never looked as there was no point with one wheel peel.

I’m almost tempted to switch to 5100s in the front and get a lift spring instead of so much preload, when I wheel with @robabeatle, I feel like he’s always tight on my 6 because his suspension is so much smoother.

Maybe I can be a weekend puddle jumper.

I'll need some learning curve time. I'm really only experienced in wet grass...

Never even been on a wheeler. The mule is fun to do donuts with though.

Man that's so subjective. People have been hating on K02's lately. No idea why. Tire threas are almost as bad as politics. :D

I've had zero complaints with my KO2's but I will eventually switch to mud terrains. Love the way they look and want the extra traction.

Have you ever gone to Land Between the Lakes? Apparently a lot of people go offroading there. It's close-ish to you.

I know it's subjective, but I have zero off road basis to base it on so... I asked.

I've been reading that hate occasionally. My old tires were wicked heavy for my 80% road warrior. The other 20% is just the yard so it don't really count.

I've hiked out that way as a day trip. Never off roaded.

His issue is going to be weight. Trucks are so light in the rear. Your 2WD 4Runner is going to have a lot easier time off road. Even our front wheel drive Rav has done ok off road. I just look ridiculous doing it.

Personally, I think K02's are a great tire, and more than enough for off-road fun. Mine have only struggled in nasty mud and even then I didn't get stuck. Any all-terrain can struggle in thick mud. That's why I want a mud terrain. I also think there are more affordable all-terrains that perform well. K02's are expensive.

For my 265/70R16s it was like $1200 for tires, mounted, balanced, four wheel alignment, and taxes.

    Maybe more, I can't remember.

Finally got to put some weight in the truck today.

Drove about 100 miles total with about 800lbs in the back.

She handled great, and the frame didn't even reach the Timbrens. This is the space between the Timbrens and the frame stop with the 800lb load in the bed.

Previously with the same weight the Timbrens/frame looked like this...

Here's the Timbrens with old springs, no weight.

    New springs, no weight.

I didn't have a whole lot of sense back then. I was "normal" and let the salesman talk me into them instead of getting the economical choice that I was looking at (street tars)

I will say the K02's are extremely well mannered on pavement. They are quiet and ride nice. And they wear like iron. Not that your tires dont(I have no idea). So while they are expensive, they tend to last forever. I think my brother got around 80k miles to a set.

Pops told me that he'd had a set of them on an old flat bed work truck in the early 2000's when he worked for Bodine. He replaced them after 85k because they were starting to get bald.

He drove all over the state back in them days because he was in charge of the highway mowing crew.

We’ll see how these keep going. I’ve got about 7k on them and no noticeable wear.

I should have clarified. My transmission got hot. Anytime I'm crawling in 4Hi it hates it. Coolant temp was normal. I guess if anything I need a larger trans cooler.

Oh yea no that’s unavoidable in any automatic. Larger trans cooler would help. But you’d want one with a fan you can turn on. It’s the slow speed not blowing air over the radiator and the transmission never having the torque converter locked.
When the converter is unlocked, your transmission is hydraulically connected. Meaning that fluids doing all the work and that’s why it gets hot. When it locks the transmission is directly connected to the engine and that’s why you see temps drop drastically

Thanks for the update. Did you get any hub to fender measurements?

I'll probably have similar weight. Its a little hard to figure with weight distribution. Plus double cab chub.

I will add Firestone airbags if I need more.

After being lost in the USPS labyrinth for almost 4 weeks, my hood blackout showed up slightly damaged.

Probably not going to attempt to install one that's damaged.

Look for an electric fan to put on the trans cooler. It should help quite a bit and isn't very expensive. Simple wiring with a toggle would work fine and just let it run whenever you're off road.

I didn't think to get any measurements loaded, I only remembered to take a look to see if the frame was laying on the Timbrens.

Airbags would be a good addition if you need more.

Wow, those are spendy. My Hancook ATM's were bout $650 mounted and balanced in a 265/75/16. KO2's are pricey! Looked at the Patagonia's, but just way too aggressive for my driving needs. Priced right for a 285/75/16 though!

I had those Hancooks on my truck before and I liked them. I've recommended them a few times. I just checked my receipt and I paid $1,100 OTD for K02's but that was for 5 tires. So 4 would have been around $880-900.

It should be precut and specific to our trucks. I'm going to ask him to send me a new one.
