Drove over to NC today and went hiking again. Love this part of the country. We hiked to a Cessna that went down in the 80's.

    Can you spot the trail?

We only have black bears here and attacks are extremely rare. Usually when someone provokes them. I always carry a handgun though.

Black bears attack you because they want to kill you and eat you. Grizzlys attack because you are on their territory. Black bear attacks way more rare

Black bears don't attack unless they don't have any other option.

I've had some nice conversations with them while they're snacking on my bird feeders.

Can say the same about our black bears in the Tenn section of the Smokies. Almost all of our bear attacks occur when city folks can't read the "Stay 50 ft away" signs. They must read it as 5 ft as they "oh ain't that cub so cute, wonder where momma bear is" o_O

I captured this single car crash on my dash cam earlier. They had to be on their phone. They are very lucky it wasn't worse.

    Your so nice for stopping!
I’ve seen one of those, I think dude dozed off, but her rolled it and came back across and then into the dirt on the right, it was pretty spectacular to watch! I pulled over along with like 8 other people(I was in creeper work van) I watched the kid get out and he kinda hugged the car in a stumble, I then deemed it worthy to continue, they had it under control.

The van that this car almost KO'd just kept trucking. I stopped but it was too dangerous to cross and we could see the people moving around inside the car so we kept trucking. The cable-style guard rail seemed almost useless. That car went right through it.

Interesting you say that about the guard rails, I remember a while back a family sued the state for not have guard rails(fatal crash)
So now along I-10, they just have signs telling you there are no guard rails for x amount of
    Miles

@Tundra2 If you're bored, I came across this video about O2 and A/F sensors. The video is a little long but I learned a few things. This guy has good Toyota content.

    Protip he shares for those that don't watch the video;
brake fluid on a stubborn rusted sensor is the the best penetrant.

Well I was banned on tacomaworold, no clue why... so heads up if I disappear for 30 days...

figured out why.. watch the words you use I guess. 30 days is a bit harsh for a first offense, but so be it.

Now I'm curious who would stop?
I wouldn't have. People are crazy and entitled and I don't have the desire to bring any extra drama into my life. Dude just drives off the road? He's on his own.
Now if he'd been swiped or t-boned and wasn't at fault, I'd consider stopping. But I'm not putting myself in harm's way for someone who brought about their own ruin.
People grow to physical maturity faster than trees and are therefore a renewable resource.

I would have. I wouldn't know if it was his fault, or a mechanical issue, or a medical issue or what. And the driver might just be in distress.

I remember working in an autobody shop for a week to help my father out. Probably one of the most politically incorrect places to work on the earth. Everyone seemed to have a derogatory nickname based upon race, ethnicity, intelligence, sexual orientation.....you name it.

You’ll learn the ways of Wurrld Peas. Just meditate on Yoga Moves and Sending Thoughts and Prayers even without actually doing anything tangible. We are all becoming one with everything. I’m begining to believe my own bs so I know it works. And what ever you do or say you’ll hurt others feelings so we all can understand together. We are all in this together.

Oh. My G-d. I had NO IDEA Nimoy ever read The Green Hills of Earth. I'm sitting here listening to this with chills running up and down my spine.

I always tear up when I read the last verse.

"We pray for one last landing
On the globe that gave us birth
Let me rest my eyes on the fleecy skies
and the cool green hills of Earth."

Heinlein is the greatest science fiction author who ever lived.

Same here. The enunciation, the pauses, the way it was phrased. Some due to Nimoy, and some due to Heinlein.

Rysling is surely one of the most relatable characters I'd ever read about in any science fiction work.

The first ime I heard this read by Nimoy I was taken aback as well. Times when my imagination as a young child crafted stories, and events out of utter nothingness. It solidified all the times I'd scoured this book as a wee boy. The pages are much thinner now than they were then.

There is a part three, but I didn't see the need in posting it. I'm not sure if Nimoy ever read anymore books by Heinlein.
    https://youtu.be/0F06wzpmrjg

"One of my hams will seal the leak. Guaranteed." Paraphrased.

I think of myself as a cultured redneck. I might be wrong...
