It should do something with just power and ground wires hooked up. If not check to see if there is a fuse in the back of the unit:notsure:

I didn't buy that thing. These are the brackets that came off my original OEM radio. That's honestly the least of my worries right now though. I need to figure out why my new Alpine stereo won't even turn on. Hopefully Crutch will help.

Given it’s a used, refurbished or whatever, missing fuse very plausible !

The stereo has no visible fuse but they wired one into the harness. It's fine though.

Do you guys think I should admit to Crutchfield that I was trying to wire in a bypass? I don't see how I could have fried this thing but I don't want them to claim that.

I would not. The bypass had nothing to do with the head unit not turning on.

Well I'll be damned. I just plugged my old stereo back in and it wouldn't turn on. I started looking around and realized I had unplugged the connector for the clock so the weight of the instrument panel wouldn't be pulling on it. I plugged it back in and the old stereo turned on. I had no idea that was necessary.

Plugged in the new Alpine and it works! Once again, I'm my own worst enemy

The only thing that isn't working is the backup camera so I'll start on that now.

What I'm saying is the factory radios are not the same width in those early models as later and as such the plastic surround has a different size rectangular hole for the radio. This is why your brackets my not work. The new radio is not the same width.

Ah yes, when dealing with these trucks dash electronics everything must be plugged back in for em to work. Same goes with the gauges. I learned that when changing the color of the lights on my 99 taco gauges and I didn't plug back in a thing or two. Thought I broke it lol

    "OH tech tip:
if your radio wont turn on when your testing, The control panel for the a/c and clock has to be plugged in.. wasted an hour thinking i fucked up the wiring DOH"

Yup I totally was dumbfounded by the same thing before... the only car I’ve ever seen where the clock has to be plugged in

I have an opportunity to buy an OEM Toyota muffler off a 2006 for my 2002 Tundra. It was taken off the sellers truck when fairly new and an aftermarket was installed. Guy is asking $150 firm. Gotta make a 3 hour round trip to pick it up (not a problem). Deal or no deal? Thoughts?

Is this some kind of aftermarket tip? Or, is it a Toyota tip? Disregard the foil tape as I’m guessing it was for storage protection since 2006.

Nice. Means this is authentic. $150 is a good price for the entire assembly considering a new OEM Muffler is about $500 from OEM online parts.

I could get a Walker muffler for $130 shipped to my door, but those don’t last as long per reviews even though they are SS.

My muffler is still the original one from 2002. Only has one patch, but I think she is starting to go eventually. Not bad for 18 years!

Whats your thoughts on this OEM muffler for $150? This thing is like a barn find.

The Monsta cures pretty quickly. You might be able to sprinkle the sand on as you roll the second coat. Karma's idea is good too. Sherwin Williams carries a product called "Shark Grip" that works well with paint over cement, just not sure it has enough tooth to stand out after being mixed in with the Monstaliner.

So our painter had some of that shark grip stuff, it felt like......cocaine, if I were to guess. I was surprised how smooth the grit was. I got silica from him instead

    Thats what she said!

Yeah, I been in negotiations on it since Friday and just worked out the time to pick it up with seller. He wouldn’t budge off $150 :D

So far my last two purchases will have been used, and in great condition, OEM parts.

This keeps me in line with my original mandate, set forth in my build page, of keeping things as OEM as possible.
